Yup, sad sad news people, my Xbox has died. It occurred at the worst time possible, I was in the countryside, middle of nowhere. No Internet access, my only vice was the Xbox on a 50 inch tv. Was playing FIFA, turned it off, went for a piss, turned it back on and BOOM my heart sank. Also had to reinstall Windows 7 twice today.
Okay so I purchased mine on 31st May 2008, I believe its covered by a 3 year warranty (fantastic!), I bought it from Argos (for those in thew know ;)).
I know procedures in the UK, are different to US, for isntance I cant raise the repair order thingy online, so I am asking for some guidance/information about how to contact MS to demand them to ask me to send it to them to then have them send me a working one in return.
I think Firedragon had an Xbox RROD, hoping he'll have some insight!
For the record, its 3 red circles, power brick is green. It has worked twice since the first red ring, but now it will not turn on fine.
Gah and REACH is coming out in just over a month!

if you don't have the tools
btw, if it asks to use spring washers, don't
use the nylon/metal washers.

I dont want to open it up, considering its within the 3 year warranty =\, so I plan to send it back to MS.
I really want a new slim, but they cost $319.

So my Xbox story for you Limited.
I had my first Xbox 360 when it first came out, that red ringed about a year or two later, (they told me that there was a bigger fault then the RROD so they wanted money from us to fix it - so my dad just told them to fuck off - I was in my mid(ish)-teens at this point so) I then got an an elite which just stopped working after about a year again but it was a problem that didn't link to E45 or RROD so they wouldn't repair it for free, so i just bought a new one (elite) and then a year on from that I sold that elite and got a new Slim 360 on launch day and I love it.
Timeline time? haha
2005-2007: First Xbox (Pro Model) (RROD)
2007-2009: Elite 1 (Just stopped working)
2009-2010: Elite 2 (Sold)
2010 : Slim 250GB - LOVE IT!
So anyway, if you can muster up the money to get a slim i would Limited, I highly recommend it, luckily my summer job(s) this year have paid for and more so, but see what Microsoft say about your current one, but get on it quick because you 'NEED' it back for Reach which you will do if you contact them soon so. Any more info? Just reply and i'll try to help :).

Update:
Just rang up MS, a nice American chap walked me through the stages, he assumed I was a total idiot and was like "try unplugging and all that jazz", but I did it and no luck (obviously), so I have arranged UPS to pick up the box within 3 working days, they will pay for it both ways and the UPS guy will have a sticker to put on it. It was weird hearing an American say my address lol.
He said a replacement would be here within 2 weeks, apparently the new one has 3 month warranty, so I pray IF it does break, it breaks within those 3 months :D.
He gave me 1 month XBL as a gift, although I have 3 month repeatedly being updated.
In other news, took my PC down to a local shop to try and narrow down the fault, they initially though it was hard disk, which if it is, I'll be slightly annoyed because thats a freaking replacement one sent from WD. I'm kind of worried that its my motherboard messing it up with like voltage or something.
