You guys got any suggestions for case mods? I'm all ears right now. I'm going to use this as a Universal Console. I'll probably put PJ64 PCSX VisualBoy and some old PC games on it. I'm calling it the Magic Box.

Doesn't anyone care about my poor MagicBox.

:smith:

I just got a network card and it's now online. I'm going to attempt to overclock it soon.

ive always loved the idea of doing something like this. you should buy an N64->usb adapter and the equivilent usb adapter for each of their respective consoles, and then get controllers for each of them. if you do that, i recommend starting with an snes adapter, since it has the optimal amount of buttons for a bunch of different consoles (nes, snes, gb, gba, DS, MAME, genesis, etc...). if you get a USB wired xbox 360 controller it will work really well for n64, ps1, ps2, and any other system you might emulate on it. if nothing else, at least get the wired 360 controller. its the most useful imo.

keep us posted. im really curious to see how this turns out

Have fun with your box of magic. Can you get bluetooth plus a wii controller?

HA! Your FX5200 doesn't even have DVI out! Cheap bastard!

Svideo out.

The way of the future.

Got PJ64 to work with a controller and I got a network card. Unfortunately the specific version of this phoenix bios can't overclock :smith: but the good news is Halo: PC will run pretty well on this computer so I have a bench mark for whatever other games I want to run on there.

BTW I have a 32mb TnT2 graphics card that I'm not using. Should I donate it to a museum?

iv heard bad things about svideo. iv only used it with my pc->tv box, but when the svideo cable was plugged into the tv (and i mean just in the tv. the other end was laying on the floor) the tv wouldnt show any other channel in color. it might have just been a thing with that tv, but you might consider looking for a pc->tv box. the one i have blurs shit to the point where i cant read standard text, but its awesome for roms, which is all i use it for anyway. i mean unless of course the svideo out is built into the graphics card on that rig you have there

Bought a sheet of Plexiglas today. I'm going to make a completely custom case then fill it up with LED's.

I hope it turns out badass. Any tips for mounting screws in Plexiglas?

Run Halo on it :q:

Also, get a PS2-USB adapter.

Make a giant fucking NES out of plexiglass.

I'm holding a xbox live vision cam. Those things are the worst cameras ever but it's all I've got.

I don't have the right proportions for a NES. That'd be funny though.

Alright we got the xbox fan and power buttons mounted. I need some super glue to get the hard drive to mount to the back of the case (DON'T JUDGE ME ITS THE ONLY WAY I CAN GET IT MOUNTED). Then we will cut out the back of the case and she'll be all done.

I also upgraded the hard drive to a higher GB. Dunno how much but more than 16gb (I hope).

E-

It's 32gb I'm installing Windows right now.

Okay, is it okay to solder 2 12v fans onto 1 fan connector? They are just 3 pin fans and I want to put a second 1 in this machine.

That'll be fine with low power fans

Inferno

Daw fuck me. Flib said it was a bad idea to do it so I went out and bought a 2 dollar 4-pin power to 3-ping power adapter.

SSD Brosef.

Inferno

Why the hell would I put a solid state drive in here? What purpose could that POSSIBLY serve on a machine with a 1.5ghz processor?!?!?

Faster access to data, and you don't have to worry to much about corruption compared to HDD. lol.

Why would I be worried about speed on an old school emulation machine? And even more so, why would I spend upwards of 300 bucks for a hard drive?

Anyways I have the mother fucking quantum fireball in here. This hard drive is 120% more BAD ASS than a regular ATA hard drive. In fact, it's made with FIRE BALLS. REAL FIRE BALLS.

Good god I had that same hdd fucking years ago. It died a terrible, terrible death at the hands of one cranky coja and a shovel. Have you finished fabricating the case?

Inferno

My dad is too busying play Starcraft 2 to help me cut the final back piece out. Once the final piece is cut I'll paint it and she will be ready to rock.
BTW where is a good place to buy LED's. Do they sell them at local computer stores usually?

Inferno

Is there such a thing as a VGA to HDMI adapter? That'd be really usefull, my Svideo to RCA adapter looks like ass when playing N64 games at 1600x1200.

I honestly doubt you'll ever get N64 games to look good at that resolution.

VGA is analog if I remember correctly.

Okay so I have a issue with ePSXe.

Here is the thread at NGEMU http://forums.ngemu.com/epsxe-discussion/137970-analog-controllers.html
For some reason NGEMU forums is now a "attack site". I just ignored it.

So I'm thinking about upgrading the processor for ultra cheaps. I can get a 1.9ghz processor of the same type for 14 bucks. Can anyone find something better/cheaper than that?

Here is the processor I'm replacing.

ePSXe is awful, use pSX ~ (http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/psx/psx_em.html)

performance wise and graphics wise I've had better luck with pSX, also play ridge racer

Inferno
August 26th, 2010, 04:22 PM
ePSXe has been running great for me. Besides the controller issues every game has been completely compatible and running at full speed or higher.
