Not with publicly available tools.

So if i asked the author of the app to do it for me. Would they do it?

Open the scenario file in Kornman's Guerilla, look for the scripts section and it will show the actual scripts that have been compiled into the scenario. You might be able to copy and paste them.

Is there any script in particular you seek? Cause the campaign map scripts are available to all!

If it was that easy, the community would have had the scripts years ago. If you are going to try and help someone, you should at least have some knowledge in that area. All that block shows is the name of the script, the script type, the return type, and the root expression index. The scripts are not stored as text in extracted scenario files or in cache files.

Not likely.

On my other acc on this site I still have the PM with the script extraction information.

Not likely.

That method only works on maps that weren't extracted with HEK+. If you compile the scripts yourself into a scenario it will show up in Kornman.

I am just saying but I am not giving it out, obviously.

SO TO AVOID ANY FURTHER PMs ABOUT THIS:

I can has that script extraction information?
Of course not since I am not the author and the original author entrusted me with this.

I honestly don't see what harm releasing such a tool could do...

I'd just like to know where it gets the info for the salts on the REIs

edit: Also, it's not a tool, it's just information.

If its not a tool then what harm is it in releasing the information?

CrAsHOvErRide
August 17th, 2010, 01:47 PM
Because it's HIS work and not mine. Besides there is a tool which obviously came after the information.

L0d3x

There is no harm in releasing such a tool, the only reason anyone would keep such a thing to him/herself is pure greed.
Not attempting to start a flamewar, but it's the simple truth.

And in order to not nourish potential flames, I will no longer post in here either.

Open the map or w/e in hex and search for "73 63 72 69 70 74 20 6E 6F 64 65" or "Script node"

have fun with the rest

this is just a guess BTW

By the way, your question shouldn't be if you can rip the scripts, it should be if you can make a destructible vehicle - destructible vehicles are tag work.

Planned on having him help with the programming, but I was able to do it myself. This was a little over three years ago, and the code has since been rewritten from scratch.

Hey guys, I made a sick pasta dish the other day. I have leftovers as well, as do I have the recipe.
But don't think for a second I'd entrust you guys with that type of information, since it could lead to a large increase in noobish pasta dishes!

If you know how to make a pasta dish, everyone knows.

I can understand being a little hesitant about releasing a tag extractor, but a script extractor? What negative repercussions could there possibly be (honest question)? Who are you trying to protect by not releasing it? CMT? Tiamat? ???!?!?!?

It's a secret family recipe, actually..

a script ripper would have been incredibly helpful a few years ago when i was really into halo modding. i doubt the community could do much with it at this point since we have the campaign scripts, but thats no reason to not release it.

im noticing here that shadow spartan never actually said it wasnt going to be released. i dont know if that means anything, but we should probably keep that in mind before we go off about it not being released.

Oh and my finally has one too. What are the odds. Script extraction? About 5 people in the world know how to do it. Wait until ShadowSpartan decides to release his work, otherwise just go learn how to do it yourself just like your pasta dish.

Oh the ignorance, I don't NEED a script ripper. I am merely stating I find it odd that Shadowspartan chooses to keep such a nifty tool to himself.
All the stuck-up attitudes on this forum, oh christ.

No seriously; what harm could POSSIBLY be done by releasing a script extractor? If anything, it'd help.

If its done, theres no point in not releasing it.

Posts like this (http://www.modacity.net/forums/showthread.php?22194-Ripping-scripts&p=553511&viewfull=1#post553511) are just taunting the community by saying "look what I have" without being any real help. Prove to us you're not just ego boosting.

I don't see how script extraction could be a problem anyway.

I have absolutely no problem with you releasing that information, it's in the communities hands to make a tool for it though, since I won't be releasing the one Shadow made. Don't forget to give credit though, it was my research to begin with.

Yet "zteam" wasn't the one who made that post in this thread nor did "zteam" go out and promise a script extractor last I checked.

Just because someone has a wealth scores higher than you, doesn't give you the right to go and nag or bitch at them for a share of their savings. Chances are they worked for that money in some way (or at least someone in their family did).

This thread is done.

Some people use scripts in order to lock down a beta map, by either requiring a "password" or using clever scripting so that it can only be run on a server that has the correct setup. I know Inferno has done this for Yoyorast Island, and so has the new CMT.

otherwise just go learn how to do it yourself just like your pasta dish.
Like they would actually bother to learn how to do it themselves, people always want things handed to them.

I am not stuck up, nor am I greedy. There are reasons I do not release my stuff, and one of them is because of the bullshit the community does like this. This is only driving me further to never releasing anything.

Was I rubbing it in his face that I had an extractor? No. Patrick did so by telling that he had some scripting information, which he should not have done in the first place.

We released the campaign scripts a while back because we knew it would benefit the community in tremendous ways, and it has. Look at what SPV2 was turning into, none of that would have been possible without those scripts. Releasing a script extractor will not cause something great like that to happen, and it will only ruin a way that people use to protect their maps.
