Pretty sure Bungie are releasing a complete Halo series art book sometime in the future. I remember Brian said something about it in an interview.

Yeah, I watched that interview. Just wondering if there was a Halo:Reach Art book out atm? As I like looking at their artwork :)

The Halo: Reach Strategy Guide has 80 full pages (out of its whopping 476 pages - seriously, this thing is a real man's book) of breathtaking concept art (with moderate commentary).

Which cover version does everyone have? For those who don't know, under the glossy slipcover of each copy is a large, high-quality helmet-shot of one of the five members of Noble Team. I sadly got Carter, the only member of Noble Team with zero character. He's such a fucking tool. Command wants Noble Team to investigate what's happening to the settlements on Reach, so for the first part of Winter Contingency Carter gives a damn about the colonists. Then, once you get re-tasked with recovering the data from the Comm Array, he couldn't give a fuck. Even Emile has more character than Carter, what with the five minutes that he's even in the game.

The military happens to like tools. Remember his fallout with Halsey? He put his direct, military orders before anything she thought was precedent. Especially in the likes of the Covies being on Reach. Carter is a team leader who executes to get the mission done, no matter the cost. Even his own life. Emile was more of hot-headed renegade, which is fine since he just fills a support element. He's not squad leader material.

I'm not saying his actions are bad at all - he did everything right in the eyes of command, and probably in the eyes of his squad as well. The fact still remains that he's a fucking tool - a damn useful one, with the ability to react on the fly, but a tool nonetheless.

Halsey's Journey is great. It fills in a lot of holes in the gap involving speculations between her and Keyes. Also, I wonder what those two ripped pages in the middle of the Journal are about. Another ARG for another game maybe?

They were a step-by-step for her illegal plan dealing with whatever she was talking about on the page immediately preceding the ripped pages. My guess is she ripped them out in case her journal was found.

No way, it was her family's secret recipe for Halsey Gumbo
So I wonder if we'll see H2,3, or 4 in any future books/games. Unless they bring back MC and Cortana. They may just keep that casket shut and hushed though. Would be kinda hard to bring them back unless they end up actually killing them off. People will just keep asking for more more more. I want more story, I've had enough of those specific characters tbh.

Honestly, if they give me Halo 1 on the Reach engine my thirst for Halo will be sated for many years to come.

Been saying this. Halo 1 and 2 with all the (non gameplay affecting) features of the Reach engine like theater and forge.

That's something only the hardcore fans would enjoy. It wouldn't be something EVERYONE could enjoy and it wouldn't compete against all the other FPS out there.

The Forerunner books will be out this Fall (hopefully). They should have a ton of story involved with them. However, I see the point you make with at least one of the characters needing to die if the story of the Chief and Cortana continues. I see them either as both dying or just Cortana from rampancy (we saw her instability from Halo Legends).
If they remade Halo 1 in the Reach engine, I think that'd be awesome. Might actually make me like the first game past nostalgia and classic gameplay.

Of course it's really just a pipe dream, I would never expect anything like that to happen.
Besides, who cares what newbs think.

On future story involving old characters:
It would be best executed having the story start off all fine and dandy, and then have Cortana slowly go rampant over the course of the game. Player would be forced to terminate her by the end. If they do it right, it could be a very good story.

They could do one final desperate mission I suppose. If you recall from The Cole Protocol, The Rubble AI held off its death via rampancy by focusing all it's efforts on maintaining The Rubble, maybe Cortana can do the same by keeping the Chief alive somehow during a last suicide-esque mission. For an AI to do it literally "thinks itself to death" my focusing to much on itself, given a heavy and vital task an AI could theoretically hold off it's death for a time. This is all conjecture though.
Just a thought.

If they did it right... They could make it a MUCH more entertaining story, however since MS owns the Halo IP, I doubt it would be Bungie that would be doing it.
