Alright you car freaks, my birthday's coming up and I'm trying to decide what car stereo head unit I should look into. My speakers are whatever (I'm hard of hearing so like I give a shit if my sound isn't the best haha... Good/great is just fine with me) but my stereo as well as ipod/iphone connector have really been bugging me. The current connector is not compatible with my iphone 4, are there able connectors out there that are actually compatible with it? As for my stereo, I'm just looking for something nice. Throw out anything and I'll definitely take a look at it, not really on a tight budget or anything since I'll be cashing birthday checks anyway. For those wondering, I have a honda civic 2005 if that matters.

Definitely go with something with both an aux in port as well as a USB drive slot. Also I'd go for something with bluetooth as well.

I cant remember the exact model of mine, but mine has a control option where I can set one of like 300,000 colors for the LEDs on the stereo (every single button as well as the screen itself changes color with the exception of the eject CD button). It also has bluetooth so I can answer calls through my stereo. I'll have to check out what brand it was, but I bought it a year ago for $350 and I think its down to ~$200 now.

Well it looks like I don't have to worry about iPhone 4 compatibly issues anymore after finally managing to get it to work.

Keep the suggestions coming, really helping out a lot. Plas, definitely let me know, cause that actually sounds pretty cool. You got a picture of it?

My vote is Pioneer. That's all I have in my truck.

I rock with the Pioneer crowd because i've been using the same unit since 2004. that means it has those dolphins and the star wars backgrounds. I've been using 6" pioneer 4-ways with it, plus a couple of generic 4-ways in the back seats (who gives a shit about the passengers I can't hear them whine anyway).

My only complaint was that when it gets hot the eject doesn't work right so i keep a pair of small needle nose pliers in the console.

Pioneer is probably the biggest name for car audio head units. Having said that, I rock an Alpine mp3-cd unit in my truck and it works absolutely flawlessly (only 15w x 4 speakers but if you need more than that you need a new muffler). I don't need to crank it and I can hear it all clearly over the engine (big ol' rattle-trap turbo diesel with a rusted exhaust).

My van had a Pioneer CD-player for a head unit and it sounded fairly good, too. I suspect they all have aux-in jacks these days so go Pioneer or Alpine with USB and stereo aux inputs and you can't really go wrong. 15 watts per channel should be plenty.
