The patch 1.1 for starcraft 2 is coming soon, Blizz has made a post about it, but the big news is that with the patch, comes the NA server support. For Aussies and everyone else it'll be like having 2 accounts, we'll just pick the server we want to play in, and all our games and replays and match history's dont carry over. So clean start, clean slate.

as soon as that patch lands i'll be able to start pummelling the crap outta your american ass's and i'm making threats and taking names.

no.

australia has got much better connection to NA + thats where our social internet side is, so when they seperated them there was a big cry because shitloads of friends wouldnt be able to play against each other.
The aussies then proved to blizzard by pinging the SAE server that it's actually faster to play games in america then in this area, due to our shitty internet.

blizzard listened and as a result all aussies and people in this region will have access to playing both on the SEA/NZ server as well as the NA server.
NA doesn't have access to the SEA sever.

After the patch when we'd try to find matches it'd never actually start the search, and the only way to exit out of the search was if you logged out of the game (or quit) because the cancel button wouldn't come up. Happened to four of us that I know of, both PC and Mac.

I was able to get on a few days after though.
