What you guys recommend?

i want a 1900x1200 screen with preferably 120hz.

i may consider going bigger but from looking around alot of places want to sell me 24's and 23's with 1900x1080 as a "full HD ready!!!" screen. thats got a worse resolution then the one i have now. which i'm not gunna do.

any good ideas?

1920x1200 (ala 16:10) is the best route right now in my opinion. A 24" screen is about as large as you want to go for a typical computer monitor, as you're only sitting a foot or two away most of the time and anything larger requires you to move back a bit to see it all.

You're not going to get anything larger than 1920x1080 in 120hz though, at least not when it comes to monitors (TV's sure, larger size but still 1920x1080). The largest and best 120hz 1920x1080 monitor you'll find is the 23" Alienware OptX AW2310 (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Displays/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-8846) 120hz monitor. Really great monitor in my opinion, but I'm a bigger fan of 16:10 aspect ratio than 120hz 3D.

i am too but i'm having a bit of trouble finding some good ones.

te 120 hz is really a gimmic seeing as i'm not actively looking for 3D now. Just another option if they arnt available in 1900x1200 i'll get a standard 24inch.
So what do you recommend?

120 Hz has some practical applications beyond 3D, such as letting your games actually run at 120 frames per second. With the more common 60 and 75 Hz, they visually tear whenever the frames go over the refresh rate (which is why you use VSYNC, so it never goes over the refresh rate).

Apart from that, are you okay with a TN panel, or are you willing to fork out for an IPS panel?

i have no idea what that means but as long as it's not over a thousand you can talk numbers with me.

what are SED screens like these days as well?

you can read up on it here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TFT_LCD).

and don't forget about pixel shading times bod. that panel is 7ms gtg (12ms btb).

if you're gonna be gaming you might want to stick to tn panel lcd's as their response time is way lower.

edit: or if you're one of those elitist snob turbo gamers, you can get a CRT.

If the screens that HP uses for its higher end laptops are the same that they use for their monitors, they are amazing. Viewing angle is pretty much 180 on my 18". Colors are vividly perfect and the white is very bright.
Don't really know much else about monitors though.

IPS also has better colour representation. If you just want an entertainment panel, though, a good TN is adequate. I like the Hanns G 27.5" and 28" models; good colours and brightness, nice size, and 1920x1200 resolution. Price is around $350 USD, give or take $25.

Found something in a manual i had somewhere that Samsung TFT's have a 3 year manufacture warranty.

Oh happy day.
My baby got back today, it's shiny, it's works and it's in gods true aspect ration. 16:10
