PC borked, need help

My laptop has been giving me shit and bluescreening lately. Now it finally won't even let me do anything when I get to the desktop.
It keeps cropping up with memory errors when I do get to open a program. Blue screen has one short address and then 3 long ones. Memory/HDD light is constantly on.
Is it a problem withe RAM, HDD, or what?

I have already formated. I have all my data backed up so taht I can format every few months, but I've already formatted twice for this problem.
First time I thought it was fixed and just reinstalled everything. Bluescreened a couple more times. Formatted again and wiped free space with CCleaner, ran a defrag of the HDD. No other programs installed.
Rebooted again and explorer.exe crashed and then it blue screened. Can't do a single thing past the login screen.

It's definitely a hardware problem then, but I'm not sure what piece the problem is with. The ram in it is how it came from the factory, a 2gb samsung and a 1gb from a brand I've never heard of. I would assume that would be the problem, but it hasn't given me issues for the last two years.

Too bad this is a laptop. It's more hassle to switch out hardware to check. Well you could try swapping out a hard drive and installing your stuff on there. That way you can see if it's an issue with the HDD.

Try re-setting the ram and other hardware you have access to

I ordered a new set of 4gb of ram. Should be here Wednesday.
If this solves the problem, at least I get an extra gb of ram to play with.

Pc boots in under 30 seconds now and is generally much better at everything now.
Where can I get another connector to plug in the old hdd? I didn't see it on new egg and there wasn't a new one with the new hdd.
