I'm surprised that nobody's posted a thread about this yet. I just beat the game and it's left me speechless...damn...Definitely can't wait until Assassin's Creed 3 comes out.
Has anybody else gotten or beaten the game yet? Any comments?

I thought this was assassins creed 3?...

Nope, Assasssin's Creed 3 is gonna feature a new assassin. The reason this is not called AC3 is cause it's still Ezio, and they want to associate each number with a different assassin I guess. Don't let it mislead you though, it's an important part of the story on both Ezio's part and Desmond's.

I hear you can hide in a box the same way you would in MGS.

Well you could wear Altiar's outfit in MGS4 and Peace Walker had the assassin's straw box that you could pull guards into and eagle dive into. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a direct reference to MGS since they seem to have such a good relationship.

Really? I've never found any boxes to hide in, though I'll definitely go and take a look at that.

The apprentice assassins and arm cannon are infinitely satisfying.

I've just started, really haven't gotten that far. Right now I'm exploring the fuck out of rome, attempting to find the Treasure of Romulus and renovating EVERYTHING.

Yeah, you won't be able to get all the Treasures of Romulus until neat the end of the game, but when you finally do get them all it sure is awesome.
And yeah, one thing that I really like about the game is the possibility to carry around heavy weapon permanently now. Try holding X while locked onto an enemy with them and see what happens :)

I played the MP beta, but that was it.
And that's all I ever really care to play of this game.
AC1 was neat, but got bored of it... this game's MP didn't interest me... and so... yar. *shrug*
My roommate loves this game hardcore though.

I take it the Treasure of Romulus is essentially a jesus armor like Altairs'?

For those who don't want to know the answer to this question, don't check the spoiler below.
Yeah you get the Armor of Brutus, but you also get a kickass dagger called the Dagger of Brutus that has 5 stars in every stat. It will also make civilians scared of you (obviously) and guards will run away from you quicker than usual cause this special dagger has it's own set of killing animations that are more brutal.

i just beat it. they certainly are good at cliffhangers, arnt they.
also if anybody is considering passing up the crossbow because of the price, dont. also, buy the glove from leonardo that lets you do that grab jump thing on walls, because later on in the game there are some spots that i dont think i would have been able to get up without it.
basically, dont pass up any upgrades just because of price. they all kick ass. also, if youre struggling without your double blades, you can hold x with throwing knives to target up to 3 enemies. if youre undetected when you throw them (and ARE holding down x), it will be an instant kill. be careful just throwing them though, because knives have failed me when i dont hold down x.
oh one more important thing: theres a side quest called "down to earth" where you have to go beat up this abusive husband. he is not difficult to find. there is a glitch where he sometimes doesnt spawn, so if it takes you more than like 10 minutes to find this guy, just restart the memory.

Beat the SP two nights ago, wasn't bad. Hated the ending ;(. For those that have beat it, you know why.

I really wonder what they'll do for the story in the third game? I honestly don't have any ideas on what could happen after that end there...

you know those temples they talked about right at the end of ac2? im sure thats what 3 is going to be all about.
i cant wait to see the assassin and the corresponding time period and atmosphere they pick for ac3. when i started playing ac2 and saw that it was in italy i :iamafag:'ed all over the place. when i saw the environments and leonardo davinci and how well they worked him into the story line, i was really just awe-stricken.
i kind of dont like that new kill chain thing though. it kind of breaks down the combat gameplay. the whole idea there is to watch your enemies, and when a line opens up, THEN you attack. killing one guy and then just having each guard conveniently move their sword out of your way so you can stab them in the face 5 times is a little cheap, especially when it seems like the killchain thing works at random (which makes some of those full sync things very difficult. 10-kill chain on the bridge to the vatican? fuck that.) But, on the other side of that, the big heavy guards with the spears are now something i actually have to watch out for seeing as how they block nearly everything that isnt a punch, so that was a good trade off. and the spears they drop? pick one up, find enemy, hold x, receive luls. bonus points if the guy is on a roof. yeeeeeeaaaaaahhh
one thing im curious about though, even in brotherhood in 1500, while it wasnt common, there were enemies that used guns. as we move forward in time, the guns are only going to get better and more powerful, and depending on the time period, more common. im curious how theyre going to work guns into the combat gameplay, which so far has been mainly blade-based. it kind of kills the realism factor a little bit when you get shot in the face while climbing up the side of the building, then fall 7 stories, hit the ground, then get right back up. i know theres really no other way to do it while preserving the gameplay, but it just doesnt feel right.
then again i guess one guy picking a fight with 40 french soldiers and walking away after killing all of them is a little unrealistic too :-3

Maybe Sam Fisher is an assassin and they're going to merge Assassin's Creed with Splinter Cell to make the introduction of guns work[/lol] (they're both made by Ubisoft after all heh)
I do miss the gameplay of the old SC games :\ [/nostalgia]

But they're French?
Seriously though this game is pretty awesome, though when I first heard the name I was hoping that it'd be co-op. Ubisoft does great co-op games, it's the only reason I got conviction. It reminded me a lot of the old style SC, just crazy fun.

Who says that the next game is going to go forward in time? (Though that's probably the likeliest option) They mentioned that there's the possibility of going back and that you may be a female assassin this time around. There are so many possibilities to explore.

Nothing to date has given me the satisfaction that knocking a guy out with a sticky cam did.
I hired this out the other day and i'm about three quarters of the way through, have to say i'm not hugely impressed. Taking guys out with your buddies is pretty neat, but all the missions are pretty similar: go here, kill that guy. It's pretty fun overall, but i guess I was expecting the increase in awesomeness I experienced going from AC1 to AC2.

Maybe AC3 will introduce Robe Abilities :mech2:
