Amit

Vietnam probably won't get a discount at all. I have friends who bought it and feel like they got gypped. They said that the content should be more like $5. I agree after jumping one of their accounts and playing for a few hours. There's just not enough there to justify paying $15 of your hard earned cash.

Dang, too bad I already own most of the games that interest me for this sale.

Anyway, picked up a few Indie games (Super meat boy and zombie driver are awesome), Batman GOTY, and FEAR complete.

What's the status of GTA4 PC version right now after all those patches? If they managed to unfuck the game reasonably, I might grab GTA4 too so I can finally start inserting real life cars into the game.

E: Oh and don't forget all the massive publisher deals (25-50% off just about everything!)
Just about everything...except Black Ops.

Ya know, it's funny. It's the only game in the top sellers right now without ANY markdown (not even a mere 10%!). What does that say about Activision?

Was considering getting BFBC2, but idk if I would actually play it. I know it's really good, but those types of shooters have never really been up my alley. I still need to get L4D2.......... :|

$25 dollars for the game and all the DLC that priced around ~$100 individually. Damn good game and if you pass up this deal you're insane.

With that said I got the awakening expansion that I didn't have a few days ago and it's good so far. I wouldn't say better than the core game but it expands past what happened end game without screwing up the story, and is 20-30 hours of game play itself.

Oh here's some big names

I'm not sure why people go around saying the PC version sucks because the only change to the PC version is their shit p2p system essentially making it the same level of shittyness as its console counterparts. Difference being you get your mouse and keyboard for an FPS which would make it superior no? Also HDRs if you're into that junk.

Double edit, Wow todays sale is.... bad. Bat Man is probably the best sale :/

Double Agent is the only Splinter Cell I don't have, but I don't know. Ubisoft games on PC....

I already have Batman. It's okay. Games that employ Metroid-style power-up/exploration mechanics are like actors that play retards in films -- they just do it to get the critics on their side and it ALWAYS works.

I already have Dragon Age and its expansions and I did pay over $100 for it.

Pondering Red Faction. I always thought I would get that on 360.

Might get Crysis. Really interested in Section 8, is it fun at all?

IGN gave it an 8, gametrailers gave it a 6.8 (8.4 user). I personally thought the demo on XBL was rather bad. Felt like a bad example of a futuristic version of a Battlefield game clone.

If ya have an xbox, try the demo out first or look up some reviews. I wouldnt personally recommend it though.

Going back and forth on the Crysis pack. Leaning against.

iizahsum
December 28th, 2010, 08:59 PM
Crysis actually has a great story behind it if you like single player gaming, the multi players pretty dead though.

ejburke
December 28th, 2010, 09:32 PM
I was only considering them as single-player games. I just don't think I'm going to like playing them. I have Far Cry and find Crytek's brand of sandbox-style combat experience to be too undirected. ONce you engage the enemy, the battles tended not to unfold in any interesting way. The scenarios devolve, rather than evolve.

I picked up Bad Company 2 last week and absolutely hated that campaign, but the real reason I bought that was multiplayer. I'm extra-leary of feeling committed to another single-player experience that I have to force myself to finish.

Also, my computer is a few years old and I would play these games in a compromised state. And what ever happened to the whole "number of activations" issue? Was that resolved?

iizahsum
December 28th, 2010, 09:50 PM
Well Crysis is a lot less sandboxy and a little more straight forward. The first couple missions feel kind of like the Battlefield campaign, your just going through the motions. Go here do this, then shoot that throw in a vehicle to "spice" things up, but theirs also a sense from the beginning that a sort of suspense and mystery to the game surrounding the story, and once you get about an hour or 2 into the campaign it really picks up and just becomes a whole shit tons of fun.

And I played through it on a laptop, just had to use a low resolution (which sucked) but the game is extremely pretty even on lower resolutions. Lower settings also makes animals not show up, and you can't destroy certain things but those things only really matter on the first couple levels.

Edit- and it still uses SecRom sadly.

ejburke
December 28th, 2010, 11:09 PM
I think I'm going to hold off. Maybe next year they'll have a pack with these two plus Crysis 2 for some absurd price.

Ifafudafi

E: Nvm Steam is slow. Dead Space for $6.80 (not nearly as scary as it thinks it is but fun action title), Amnesia for $6.80 (definitely as scary as it thinks it is), and everything Quake (not including Q4, hurr Activision) for $10.20.

I reinstalled Hell's Highway today and I'm playing through it right now. Such a good game. I liked the story line of the first two games but I absolutely hate the movement of the character. Not to mention, even when aiming down the sights you can't hit shit at point blank range. Hell's Highway remedied most of that.

ejburke

L4D2 would have to get down to $4.99 for me to consider it. I just don't get that series. From what I've played, I derive no enjoyment from slaughtering endless paper mache zombies and then getting ambushed by cheap special infected. It doesn't help that I never bought into the zombie meme.

"The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition Deluxe includes Knights of the Nine and the Shivering Isles expansions plus Fighter's Stronghold Expansion, Spell Tome Treasures, Vile Lair, Mehrune's Razor and much more."

For the few extra dollars, im just getting deluxe. Those were all paid for (1 of 2 might of been free) DLC's when it was on the 360. Got myself Oblivion (even though I had it on 360) and Amnesia. No more spending for me though, i need my $$$ lol.

L4D2 would have to get down to $4.99 for me to consider it. I just don't get that series. From what I've played, I derive no enjoyment from slaughtering endless paper mache zombies and then getting ambushed by cheap special infected. It doesn't help that I never bought into the zombie meme.
Easily a $50 game you should feel bad.

Today's line-up look pretty good.

Got nope.avi on sale there if you haven't already!(?)
Farcry 2 under $5
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. collection under $5
C&C3: Red Alert 3 there (though it is no AoE  )

Yeah don't forget the Jedi Knight collection; all the dark forces games are pretty sweet although JKII is the best imho (if you just want that it's only $2.50)

Ha, Command & Conquer 3 is $7.50, while Red Alert 3(sitting on my 'worst game I've ever played' chair) and Command & Conquer 4 are $5.

Today it's a bunch of high-profile games that wish they were good (the new Medal of Honor, Mafia II, and new Bionic Commando)

On the other hand Zeno Clash and AAAA are pretty cool indie titles and Half-Life singlehandedly revolutionized the entire FPS genre back in '98 (the sequel's pretty neat too, also mods)

How's Blue Shift and Opposing Force? They any good?

Opposing Force is pretty good (and the protagonist is something of a meme now) but Blue Shift's kind of meh

They're basically just more Half-Life

I got Bionic Commando for 360 at Amazon for $10. It would have been a good game if not for the bullshit checkpointing. They give you probably the best grapple mechanic that's been in a game, but you're too afraid of falling into a pit to have any fun using it. I found myself inching along, playing super-conservatively, instead of letting it hang loose and going full-on Tarzan. The checkpoint guy pretty much singel-handedly ruined this game and caused Grin to shut down. I hope he feels swell about it.

Looks like my pondered purchase of the day will be the Company of Heroes offerings. Isn't that game, like, free now?

I bought the Half-Life pack, Plus I owned L4D2 so I got like an extra 10% off :D

The only one from the pack I haven't played is Ep. 2 though.

I would buy Episode 2, but having already beaten it once on the 360, that's not exactly the story I'd like to experience twice. It's way too good to be ruined with a second viewing for me.

I actually bought the pack for the originals since I lost my CD versions of them. I've also been craving a trip down memory lane, Just need the original crash bandacoots to come to PC now *sigh*...

As for the specials, it's the weeks top sellers; Amnesia, L4D2, GTAIV + expansions, and Dead Space look like today's big ones

Not sure if the sale is going to be still on tomorrow so how about this; I buy the bundle for you today and tomorrow (or whenever you have the money) you buy me Zen Bound 2 http://store.steampowered.com/app/61600/ (works out at the same price after the sale is done). If it reverts back to a higher price then don't worry.

Sound like a plan?

Total damage: just under $30 for 5 games + 2 expansions. I try to be picky when it comes to Steam. It's almost insidious the way they tempt you to part with small amounts of money for things you have no time and little inclination to actually play.

Total of mine comes to 39.76. Not bad, considering I got 10 games (Also bought one for Pyong, and he traded me for BC2 <3).

Sure that works. Steam allows you to gift things to your friends right? (Haven't really meddled with steam too much lately, too much Vegas <--)

Just under $15 - Meat Boy and BFBC2. I already owned most everything else (some for shitbox360 admittedly) and didn't want the rest, but damn this is why I love Valve.

Sales over sorry mate, you can only gift things to people the as you purchase them (it asks if you want to buy it for yourself or as a gift). I couldn't gift it to you because you aren't on my friends list. I did add you and tried to send it, but it wouldn't go through because you hadn't confirmed it or something.

Edit: if you still want it it'd probably cost like $30-40 or so for all 3. (shadow, clear sky and call of pripiwhatever it is)

I own Stalker Clear Sky on my Direct2Drive account, I can send you the info for it if you wanna see if you can DL it.

Yeah I'll just pick it up myself, 40$ isn't really that bad. Thanks for the notion though.
