So many questions needing answers, that trailer alone raised an eye brow with "Only you with the nanosuit can finish what I started over a century ago".
I'm bracing for some time distortion events, There's not alot of things that we know about the Ceph so far other than they're here to kill and have been on the planet for millions of years.

spotted some binocular marking, barrel throwing and throat grabbing, on top of the slidin' and shootan', looks awesome (wish they'd release an SP demo for PC)

I don't give a shit about the minimum specs (which those obviously are). Give me the recommended specs. Even then, that hardly guarantees smooth gameplay (it usually doesn't).

Recommended specs guarantee smooth gameplay at a specific resolution, usually people surpass that resolution and then complain their specs aren't up to snuff.

These are the recommended. Crytek specifically stated the system requirements for Crysis 2 would be lower than Crysis 1's.

I should think they learned after Crysis that optimization is a key role.
And please, it looks and runs well (at least MP-wise) on the 360 and I'm pretty sure your PC is at least as good as a 360.

Looks like it could be good. I'm definitely liking how the urban environments are looking, I just hope they mix it up well. Hoping it'll be a lot more interesting than all the jungle levels for the first 90% of the first game.

That's like asking should you watch the original matrix before seeing the other two.

So should I finish Crysis 1 before playing the second?Meh, you don't really have to. There's not too much story-wise to catch on with, but then again we don't know the full details on Crysis 2's story. If anything, it'd probably be more useful to play it and appreciate how much they've changed/upgraded/improved the engine and gameplay [when you play Crysis 2], rather than see the story.

Crysis 2 PC & Multiplayer Master Key Leaks 42 Days Prior To Release (http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/59050/Crysis-2-PC-Multiplayer-Master-Key-Leaks-42-Days-Prior-To-Release)
Well, you certainly don't see this kind of situation often anymore. Usually when a game leaks into the hands of grubby pirates it is via the release of Xbox 360 or PS3 rips prior to launch. In a strange turn of events however a nearly feature complete PC DirectX 9 internal build of Crysis 2 PC busted out onto the net last night. Not only that, but according to reports the complete Crysis 2 multiplayer master key is now out in the wild as well.
A user on the Facepunch forums (http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1058902-Crysis-2-leaked-49-days-early.) was among the first to really draw attention to the leak. After poking around the net however it seems that there was discussion at a French hardware site (http://forum.hardware.fr/hfr/JeuxVideo/PC/unique-crytek-franchise-sujet_149743_52.htm) prior, which posted what looks to be the very first screenshots from the developer build.
With the multiplayer master key out there no one can be sure what exactly this leak is going to mean for the legit Crysis 2 multiplayer community, or the hard working developers at Crytek. Assuming Crytek changes the key and sets up measures to make sure that pirates can't interfere with legit players, there may very well be split communities of actual owners and pirates running a patched up leaked build.
Screenshots, and of course Youtube videos have even begun to hit the net, and the game is reported to have hit many major file sharing sites already. The good news is according to user complaints the leak is indeed limited to DirectX9 only, and reportedly crashes often.

My audio is messed up when playing it, the first rifle you get sounds all borked and there are many other audio issues in this build. I seem to be able to get 30 FPS at 1920x1200 at High (Hardcore) settings, there is no Very High settings yet since they only have "Gamer", "Advanced", and "Hardcore" (LowSpec, MedSpec, HiSpec) in this build. If I were to drop my res down it would be perfectly playable (sometimes it drops below 30 right now), or lower my settings to Advanced.

Well yeah, multiplayer does not equal online. I guess it's not piracy if you play on LAN, if that's even an option. Generally speaking, though, MP is considered online play.
Cortexian
February 13th, 2011, 02:36 AM
Well, I'll break my own rule a little just to clarify what's happening and why I don't want discussion on it.
People bypassed the login screen to get straight into the multiplayer menu and used some commands to access LAN. This obviously isn't intended since you're completely bypassing the login screen and going straight to a game lobby.
Limit your discussion to gameplay and such, no links or information on how to accomplish anything specific please!

So I got this. Lots and lots of bugs. The start of the campaign is confusing, but it's obvious from the first level that you're in the nanosuit that things will be made clear soon enough. I just got the part where you break the padlock and suddenly the game locks up and my desktop mouse appears. I simply decided to CAD and end the process through the task manager. This proved to be a long process. I wonder if there was a memory leak or something. I was monitoring the dev stats and it didn't look like it, though.

Or how about a better idea, since The game isn't even supposed to be out for another 50 days and hasn't even reached the factories for printing we don't discuss the leak at all.
Since there are no legal and legitimate ways for anyone here to have obtained this beta any and all discussion on personal experiences should be considered piracy and also come under forums rules as such.
Obtaining a copy of a premium application without first obtaining an explicit lawful licence to use said application directly constitutes piracy.
Crytek has put alot of work getting Crysis 2 out to all three major formats and have said in the past that if anything like what happened with the original happened again then they may not bother working on a third to end the trilogy.
Have some fucking respect, these guys are pushing the hardware on all three formats and have had one of the best recruitment drive's I've seen from any of the other quality developers, least you can do is show some respect.

I wouldn't be surprised if this only fuels the sales, Half-Life 2 was leaked months before its official release and it sold a lot more copies than projected. We're not hurting the company in any way by playing this right now, because as you said yourself, this hasn't even hit the factories yet and they're not making any money off of it yet. If anything they're still losing money on production costs, when it's released I don't see this leak impacting sales. The only people that won't be buying it are people that have become accustomed to polished "stress testing" betas like the Halo Reach and Crysis 2 betas on Xbox 360. Those fags are going to download this, see how buggy it is, and make up their tiny little mind that it's not going to be worth buying.
I don't see any harm in discussing it so long as no links or specific information is provided in this thread. If people do have it, that's something they made the decision to do themselves.

But unlike Half-Life, Crysis wasn't a revolutionary blockbuster title. It was a pretty tech demo. I don't hear about a cult following for Crysis, but there certainly is one for Half-Life. I'm not sure your analysis of the leak situation is entirely accurate.

ill say here what i said before: those who buy legitimately will buy it if its worth buying. those who want to pirate it will, and probably already have.
if a game has bad sales, its probably because it wasnt worth buying. i have never heard of a major game like this failing due to piracy. and no, im not promoting piracy, im just saying i seriously doubt this will make the game company lose significant sales.
Cortexian

The difference is that MOST mainstream games make playing multiplayer impossible or require months or years of programming emulators to make it possible for pirates. Crysis 2 leak is playable online by anyone with basic internet search skill.
I will still be buying this when it comes out however, and I'm sure lots of other people will too.

this is true. i did read in one of those articles that because this was leaked with the master key, the devs can isolate the pirate players from legitimate buyers when the game comes out because they will change the key.
so i guess if the devs really wanted to crack down on the pirates when the game comes out, they could. actually they probably could right now since the legitimate game isnt even out yet

Is it not possible to disable the use of the key from Gamespy? Most people are still using hamachi anyways, though. LOL imagine people using Hamachi and Tunngle as the primary MP source? That's ridiculous.
Also, the i_giveitem command works for spawning weapons and weapon attachments. The only attachment I haven't been able to spawn in the pistol silencer. Maybe I should jump into the editor and look for the name of it. Problem is that the editor is even less stable than the game itself.
Donut
February 13th, 2011, 10:02 PM
i dont know what they can or cant do, but the game isnt even out yet. i just dont believe the devs cant crack down on this whenever they want. its not like they have to distinguish between legitimate buyers and pirates.
it almost makes it seem like they leak stuff on purpose. have you noticed that xbox isos are always leaked from france?
Amit
February 13th, 2011, 11:36 PM
The is that people are using Hamachi, not Gamespy so the devs can't shut them down unless they locate the people running the hamachi servers.
Also, I found out how to get a large boost in FPS. Go into your User folder, open Saved Games, Open Crysis2, go to shaders, cache, and then open globals.txt. Reduce a few numbers for some options. My FPS jumped from 30 to 50-70. The thing is that I lowered down a lot of the settings and my FPS is really smooth, but the graphics are pretty watered down. Textures that were there before are now missing, lighting, parallax occlusion and all kinds of stuff i altered now look pretty bad.

That's all I can remember off the top of my head. There are a bunch of weapons I haven't tried unlocking yet, though, like the Marshall and X-43. I've tried to get attachments like the guass (rifle) but I've had no luck. I'll check the CryEngine 3 editor for weapon names.
Edit: Yup, hit the jackpack for weapons and accessories in the Editor. Click Entities, Items, and there you go. Much the same as Cry1.
The Graphics settings in the editor are amazing. In addition to low, med, high specs, there's X360 and PS3 options available as well! This game looks so damn good on even old hardware. There's also a very high setting. I played some multiplayer on Hamachi earlier too, it's pretty fun. I'm definitely buying this game.
And I continue to be awe at the editor. There's an AVI recorder built right into the Ribbon interface.

Leaked beta. Not pirated. The game isn't out yet, the company hasn't lost any sales. If anything this just serves to solidify the purchase-or-not-to-purchase decision many of us were thinking about. I know that I for one will be buying it on day 1 (especially if it's available on Steam). Most of the other people I've talked to that have played it have said the same thing. In fact, I don't plan to play through the entire singleplayer game until it's released.
Having the edge on hosting a server is what I'm most interested in, finding out what maps work well with what gametypes and settings so I can get Jcap to set one up for those of us that do purchase it when it comes out in March!

Well, we are going to find out anyways right? Not to mention, most of the stuff we are talking about is accessible using the same commands as Crysis 1, but with the names of the weapons in this game. Since it's the CryEngine, it's not like we don't already know that mostly anything that was in Crysis 1 will be available for use in Crysis 2. It ain't piracy if they've so far lost no sales. If anything, this has removed the doubt about buying the game in my mind. I think this is going to help Crytek more than hurt them since people would pirate the official game, anyways.
