Has anybody else gotten access to the Beta? I for one am loving it, and am quite impressed with the Imperial Guard.

I was given access, but I didn't like the DoW II hero based gameplay. Much preferred the original game and its expansions normal RTS style gameplay.

I loved the thought required to bust the obligatory stalemates in the first game. You tried playing it with the Firestorm over Kronus (also called Firestorm over Kaurava) mod?
That said, I'm exited for Imperial Guard in Retribution. However, I'm also disappointed at the usual lack of love for the Tau.

Never played it with any mods really, I liked the stock gameplay enough and never played it enough (sadly) to get bored enough to start looking for mods.
Another reason I'm not interested in DoW II yet, no Tau.

Tau have been bad since the updates in the first Dawn of War and Dark Crusade. I remember ransacking an entire base with 2+ Thunderhead Gunships...and it was fucking glorious

I was in the same boat. I was just browsing ModDB one day and saw that it made gameplay more like tabletop and added more units for each faction. I tried it. It was the most glorious thing to happen to the game.
Teek, the Tau still rape. Use Broadsides instead.

But Broadsides are so "meh" D:
They can't move and they don't look like starships. D:

I usually just spam the Fire Warriors, fill your command cap with em and you've got an army that can pretty much rape anything.

Teek, starships don't belong on the ground. I want my tanks to look like goddamn tanks.
Speaking of which, does DoW II even have vehicles? Dreadnoughts don't count.

Do tanks count? :P If so, then yes it does.

I got 3 keys. I have 2 extra. PM me if you want one. Retribution is win, btw. 6 campaigns, 1 new faction, new units, custom badges built-in among many other things.
EDIT: I should have said that if you don't have access to a key and won't eventually, contact me, otherwise wait for your key on steam. Also, if you registered for an account on community.dawnofwar2.com before jan 25th 2010, log into your account and click Beta Key button on the navigation bar.
btw, I only have 1 key left.

Don't have access yet, I have the original game but never joined their forums. Anyway, I"m digging the new custom decal option. I made two for my friend to test out. You might recognize him if you've been on DoWII for a while, he was ranked pretty high. He was DerBlitzadler and now his name is Aeltus. Blood Angels decal was just for laughs, since that's the chapter I play as.

I really love that the custom badge is now integrated into the game. I have imported about 10 logos into the game and most look great!

How do you put in custom badges?

The 3.4 patch updated the readme to include instructions now:
6.8 CUSTOM BADGES
How to create a custom badge for DoW2: Retribution.
1) Open your favourite image-editing software application.
2) Create an image no larger than 128x128 pixels.
3) Save the image as an 8-bit .PNG file. Ensure the file size is not larger than 56kb.
4) Save or copy the image into the following folder: C:\Users\[username]\Documents\My Games\Dawn of War II - Retribution Beta\Badges
5) Launch Retribution and open the Army Painter. Your image should appear in the list of badges.

Not exactly user friendly, but still a hell of a lot better than trying to import sprays for TF2.

in order to have proper transparency, like in the two examples I posted, you gotta use a respectable image editor like photoshop (that's what I used) and set up an alpha map for which parts of the photo you want to be hidden ( like a white background). I saved my badges as .dds files, they have the best compression out of the 3 supported file types.

What is the other one? I thought only PNG was supported, otherwise I would have used dds format. You don't need to use an alpha map to get good transparency, though. Then again, I only used logos that I created or simple coloured ones. I'm using the Gears of War logo for my Chaos Space Marines.
EDIT: These are some of the ones I have tried out. I use the Gold UNSC one for my green camo IG.
