I've been thinking, with halo 2's far more advanced engine, would a forege mode be far more probable than with HaloCE?

Someone was working on such a thing but I have not seen any progress in awhile. The video of it that I saw showed them spawning objects and dragging them around. Others may know if this project ever reached further.

The engine is more advanced but it's much more locked down than Custom Edition's engine. I'd say CE has a higher chance of ever seeing this.

i actually think that with the new engine it would be far better. But you need to have a far better coding experience than you wuld to have a "forge like" experience with halo ce. If anyone releases this, if it is priced, i will definitely pay double for it.

I asked around, the project is not on right now. The people involved are working on other projects and one of them lost his most recent source. :(

SilentK just didn't want to continue.
Besides the GFWL crap, it's the same for both engines. I think Korn is the only one who researched things like object detachment from maps etc for H2 though.

If such a tool ever came to fruition, I don't think the author would legally be allowed to charge money for it. Not unless they got permission from Microsoft, which basically means fuck all if they dropped support for the game so soon.
It doesn't really matter, though. What's the point of even trying. It'll just end up as wasted effort.

You could probably just say the charge is for the installer, not the program itself :-3

Honestly, I don't know why anyone would even want to put any effort into a forge tool for H2V. The stock H2EK is better than even Reach's forge mode, offering more features and freedom than you could ever expect from forge.

yea, i absolutely agree about that. But once again, being able to accept the new maps and mod it so that it actually moves objects INGAME would be sweet.

me and a buddy made an app that lets you spawn and move objects within a map, but it doesnt save yet and you cant delete objects. that was gonna be added later.

Beta? The program doesn't actually do what they hoped it would do. I don't think they would release even an alpha for something that doesn't really work. I'm sure they could probably make a video for it, though, if they haven't already.

I was fiddling around with SilentK's source code, but I don't know how to make Halo stop crashing whenever you move an object like a weapon//vehicle around.

I have in the past messed around with moving BSP parts in game it worked but i didn't get very far in it because i was stuck on that the object would disappear if it moved outside of its portal.
