H2V Edit (http://h2v.halomaps.org/index.cfm?pg=3&fid=2179) allows for injection and extraction of assets, but they all have strange file extensions and end up being 0kb in size. What do I need to extract to get textures and all the fancy bump/spec/etc... maps that come with them for my custom map? I want to extract the assets from Turf, Warlock and Zanzibar to put them in my map. Is it possible to also extract tags for things like moving fans and destructible cover like on Zanzibar as well?

When it comes to extraction you need to have access to extracted Halo 2 XBox .map files (commonly reffered to as H2X). I recommend Entity 2.1.5 for standard model to .OBJ extraction.

H2V injection is currently not possible with any released tools.

Most of the apps you will need are here:

Oh right, almost forgot check this out for textures (Data + Tags):

This is the easiest way to Port Halo 2 Xbox MP maps into H2V (2nd post, the process is pretty similar to what you are trying to do):

Entity does not extract the model UVWs, so it looks like crap once you add the textures.

Entity extracts most of the UVs properly for me. However, sometimes they come out backwards and need to be fixed (in 3DS Max) with the Unwrap UVW modifier.

Mine never extract right, and when I try to fix them in max, there are always parts that have no purpose, or are just completely wrong.

This may help you: gw_objio.dle (http://www.monstrmoose.com/MMrepository/Halo_Tools/3D/Apps_+_Plug-ins/3DS_Max/gw_objio.dle) <-----try right-click, then save as if you get a wall of text

It is a different .OBJ importer. It sets up your materials and textures. I use it with 3DS Max version 8.

I also use this: 3DSMaxR8DDSPlugIn (http://www.monstrmoose.com/MMrepository/Halo_Tools/3D/Apps_+_Plug-ins/3DS_Max/3DSMaxR8DDSPlugIn.rar)

It allows .DDS files to be seen in Max 8 (which may only be an issue with Win Vista).

How do I use the OBJ importer? All it leads me to when I click on the link is a huge wall of text.
