There was another thread about it, but the last post was from 2009. I don't want to dig it from the grave.

Who has it? What system? Opinions?

I have it for PC, played about 7 hours now. My thoughts:

Challenges NEED to be done before you get to a high level, or they're hard as hell to beat.
The idea is great. I like it.
In Free Play, the only way to have fun is to find a dedicated server. If you find a good one, you can play for hours (need good, not stacked teams too).
Customization is interesting

There isn't much to customize on every weapon, but what you do customize does help on the field.
Appearance is cool, lots of different styles of everything.
Body types:

Currently I am using the light body type. Seems to be working out nicely.
Medium is what you start out with, you can take a fair amount of damage, and parkour everything you need to.
Heavy is a bullet sponge (so my friend says, and the empty ammo clips on the ground). You can't parkour things, which really helps in battle. Use heavy for medic, any other class is bad with it.

The bugs:

there's a map you play on, and it kills the in-game sound completely. I still played alright, but it really screws you up when you can't hear shit around you.
Frames Per Second. Seriously, i'm getting shit FPS most of the time in multiplayer (and my rig shouldn't do that, at all). Disabling shadows, and installing the newest drivers helped a little bit, but my ATI 5870 is dogging it sometimes.

Bots. Oh, how I hate joining a dedicated server, only to find that i'm the only REAL person on it.
Haven't played the campaign, but I heard it was just like MP but with bots.

That's about it for now.

Saw a video for it on Wednesday, and decided that it deserved to be put on my ohai-To-Get-List. More than likely going to get it for the 360, I really don't buy games for the PC anymore unless I want to mod it.

Awful Awful game, would not recommended unless you have people to play with. I found single player almost unplayable the AI (bots) are terrible, some of the worst AI Pathing I've seen in years, i saw them all stood around in a circle on the second half of the second security mission, not even helping out, just having a little chit chat about who has the biggest dick.

Waste of money, keep your money and use it to buy a much better game; ie. LA Noire.

you're basing your opinion on a multiplayer only game on bots

what

(also the bot difficulty scales with your level hth)

that's like loading up l4d and criticizing the gameplay on the survivor bots or infected bots being so bad. alternatively, a tf2 server with just yourself and the rest bots.

Any once you get to at least level 5, the bots get way better.

Just find a dedicated server (Reddit r/Brink server (http://www.reddit.com/r/brink/comments/h8okp/community_brink_server_and_voice_server/)). Ones that are mostly always occupied with people are great.

There was an update today, anyone know what that's about?Guess it fixed a lot of stuff. (http://www.reddit.com/r/brink/comments/has4w/splash_damage_just_patched_brink/)

Watched my friend play today... bots built a barrier and trapped themselves inside of it. Game was lagging like hell and didn't look fun at ALL.

From what I've seen, it looks like they spent too much time creating lots of character variations, and not enough time play-testing for bugs and other sorts of errors.

Movement is great. Looks great. Heavily relies in team play, which means you don't have people to play with, you're not going to have fun. This thread proves the amount of bugs and lag bs going. Guess they released the game unfinished.

Seems that a lot of companies are doing this lately :\

Funny thing is that it was originally supposed to be released tomorrow. They bumped up the release date.

I remember seeing live game play of this! But that was two years ago at PAX. How can there still be bugs in it...

Probably because they didn't stop making the game two years ago. Pretty easy to bring a build of a game to a convention which is locked down enough to not include any major bugs.

I and TeeKup play with each other as Engineers almost every other night. We have been since release. It's a lot of fun but it's one
of those games that needs to be played with a bunch of friends; whether online or system link. It does indeed need patches and it tends to lag heavily in multiplayer. But I'm still hooked. Finding a good game doesn't take *too* long but once you do, it's enjoyable.
On an unrelated note: I'm getting a little stoked about L.A. Noire :P

For fellow AMD peeps. (http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=3985063&postcount=1) They released a hotfix that's supposed to fix the loss of framerate. with my 5870, I jumped to about 90 FPS, with a consistent 60 FPS in intense times.

More people are showing up on MP, it's getting a lot more fun and the objectives a lot less unbalanced now.

Good to see JC2 is rated better than Brink, ha. And GTA4? Whoa, double ha!

L4D1 is one of the best games to watch when it comes to competetive gaming (sc2 is the best, tf2 second).

Brink is terrible, the AI are pants on head retarded, it's buggy as fuck and no-one plays online for these reasons, so the multiplayer is the same as quake and UT3 atm.

L4D1 is too easy to solo stuff honestly, there are choke points and attacks that are impossible to solo in 2. And TF2 comp better than L4D wat.

e: if you like to watch this is a great one, amazing game http://www.l4d2tv.net/Videos/router-pixies-vs-team-druidz-thefragpipe-playoffs-semi-finals-english-228/

CEVO Summer for L4D2 is starting soon too.

The survivors have been nerfed (in comp play that is) so heavily that it's actually fairly even, but the only real way to win a map is with a quad cap, also thanks for that link.
