Wouldn't surprise me if that little snippet is the very end of the next episode. They've done a very good job of stretching this out and are relatively awkward in transitions.

Lately, a lot of gaming trailers and move trailers have been brandishing the snippets from the end in their trailers. That really bothers me now.

Looking at the bright side: every generation of multiplayer has been radically different than the one before it. That's something CoD can't say.
So, by effectively slipping into the status-quo of FPS multiplayer, it effectively became its own unique gem within the Halo franchise. :iamafag:

That video is old, like a week or so. You mind listing the issues you think are there?
I'm only skeptical gameplay-wise in regards to weapon drops (basically like Killstreaks, but I like that it's based off of points rather than kills and won't send a gunship to make it a shit game) and armor mods (like some mods make you more resilient to grenades or allow you to pick up and carry more grenades). Everything else is looking really nice. I like the philosophy around players being able to choose their starting weapons so that they can learn said weapons, not to mention having the choice is really good to begin with. It puts Halo where it needs to be to compete with other modern FPS shooters that give players similar choices and larger scales.

I think the biggest issue is the fact that they are saying all the old halo games were old and/or broken so they've "fixed" everything. I've told everyone that this isn't Halo any longer for a stupidly long time and here they are finally saying it now. This is their own title based on what a studio that hasn't made a game yet thinks a game should be.

Oh please. They're letting it evolve with the rest of the game industry. Halo's fallen behind other games, and the progressive style games have been eating away from Halo since COD4. Everyone who's played H4 says the gameplay is the best out of the series, or at least on par with H1. The MP is going to be different for sure, but it's not like any of the other Halo games respected their predecessors MP either.
On another note, that trailer pumps me up for SPOPS. The pre rendered cutscenes look amazing, based on suiting up scenes we were shown, I'm inclined to think that they stream you a video based on what your player profiles armor is set to, hence why you can only do SPOPS with a connection to XBL.

I think the last multilayer experience I enjoyed on Halo was when Firefight first came out on ODST. I bought Halo Reach, however I wasn't gonna rejoin xbl again when I heard the multiplayer sucked compared to Halo 2/3s multiplayer. Personally, in Halo 4, some things look cool, some don't. I don't really like the fact that they offer you weapons at spawn, was never into that, the announcer talks WAY to much, and unlocking skins/weapons, is wtf considering all the skins look like shit. But I did watch some BTB on the new valhalla which looked pretty badass. I might just play mp just to see how it is.

And while doing so they're doing everything that has shown to cause gameplay to snowball beyond control and make things not fun for the loser. Halo was great because everything was on equal footing until the end. Now, it's make perfect use of the new stuff or die, die again, and die once more until points lose you the game. It's miserable to experience and it's even worse to watch as a spectator. They're taking away most of the ways you could play and are now saying you have to play it 'this' way to succeed because we've scripted it this way. Saying you can play Halo the old way with a custom game isn't going to cut it either since some of the new mechanics drive the established game modes and that's not what is going to be filling the XBL queues. They're not even doing these things for a meta game either.
The only supposed good thing out of this is that you can play catch with the oddball now. I say supposed because depending on the map it could just be abused (IE that floating island with clouds surrounding it in Halo 2).

Stop being so over dramatic. If anything, these new changes are easier on the "loser" just because now you get rewards, medals, and xp for pretty much everything you do. In older Halo, you weren't given anything unless you got kills or completed objectives. That is it.
Also, have you actually played the Halo 4 mp yet?
@Amit, please list the issues you see with the Vidoc.

Everyone still starts on equal footing. When I played I scored best on my team at level 0 when everyone else was running around with light rifles and DMRs. The weapons you start with are all balanced. You rank up slow if you suck, good performance makes you rank up faster. In my brief time playing, there were never any abilities or starting weapons that made me feel like the game was unfair.
Also, in custom games/forge, you can set the games spawning and mp rules to be just like H2/3. So yeah.

And what qualifies this is that everyone can start with what weapons they want to. They have the choice to decide how they want to play, not to mention the niches of the weapons are all streamlined and defined. Each has a great capacity to own and even more so each player can develop styles around them. I like that sense of tactics and strategy personally. So it may not be the literal sense of starting equally like Halo 1's OP Pistol, but in the sense that everyone can equally choose how they want to play.

My question about that is this:
How "equal" will it be for a new player 3 months after release when people have had time to level up and unlock things to a significant degree?
Will it be like Battlefield and CoD where you get assraped first thing or will it be more or less like Halo has always been, with player skill being the determining factor.
Food for thought.

As far as weapons go, I think it will be fine. There are a lot of ways to play with the different weapons, not to mention every weapon is powerful enough to effectively tackle different situations. However, I fear for your theory in regards to Armor Mods. We will seriously have to wait and see what happens when a lot of players playing better or for longer have those mods versus players who don't. That's really my biggest concern.

I might have a loadout with the Light Rifle and the Boltshot. It'll cover just about all the bases between point-blank range and cross-mapping. Is it the best combination? Probably not, but at least I can use it in a variety of roles.

Thankfully we have trueskill working behind the scenes for situations like that. Players who play a lot and have a firm rank will play with another, the less expierenced players will play together too.
@Teekup, the surpressor is like the SMG basically, but slightly just spread and slower projectiles. Sounds cool though.

Oh for fucks sake. If you are going to give the Didact six fingers, give him two thumbs. He's got an extra pinkie-finger thing going on. Did no one play the Sacred Icon in Halo 2 at 343i? And that stuff probably wasn't even likely to be taken literally. It was probably made for ambidextrous users, not six fingered freakazoids (http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/9/99702/1833339-freakazoid_by_dragonballzcz.png).

Since when have you ever heard or seen John's last name used in the canon after he became a fully augmented Spartan II?
He always responds with his full official name of "Master Chief Petty Officer, John 117". For all intents and purposes, 117 is his last name since the whole Spartan program dehumanized the Spartan candidates.

You don't seem to understand what I said. In today's USN, regular E-9s are addressed as Master Chief Whatever-The-Fuck-Their-Last-Name-Is.
In the lore, he lost his last name after being abducted and was given two pieces of identity. John and 117.
It is stressed that his identity and even the nature of the Spartan II program is classified. Hell, it's not even announced that the Covenant is fucking over planets yet.
Do you expect him to just merrily announce, "Why hello there cadets, I am Master Chief Petty Officer John 117," to these people?
They needed a way to address him, other than 'giant robot guy', and he gave them what he could to get by.
What I was pointing out was that the Petty Officer half of the title being left out was not wrong.
Never once did I say he should use a non-existent last name.

I know what you mean, and this is to early in the lore for people to know that he's a Spartan, or even more specifically "the Chief". So IMO he would of likely stated his rank and number in this case, "Master Chief Petty Officer 117" and left it at that. Very few non-Spartans ever called Spartans by their actual names. Captain Keyes and Dr Halsy being two of the only ones that I know of. They reserved names for talking to each other, otherwise they used ranks and numbers, or shortened ranks and numbers.
My point is that the Chief came off as to socially integrated in his role. When asked who/what he was he should of given a snappy response of "Master Chief one-one-seven", since the "Petty Officer" is implied. He talked way to much in his role IMO, as the Chief always just "did" or gave very brief and concise instructions to other non-Spartan military personnel.

I'm positive Killcams are for specific gametypes and can be disabled. Perks are still to be judged and I won't mind them as long as they don't break the game. I hate how gimmicky the quick reload perk is with nearly every game now, but what can you do when it's a core component of the game? I think it will make the game more dynamic though, kind of like when you're fighting some Elites and a Hunter shows up, so you do have to change tactics a bit.

Exactly where I saw hunters they had the thruster pack, and they were so fast and had a much longer melee range, that if you got up close to them to shoot them with a shotgun without this I would often end up dead by melee. So you could get close shoot them, and then evade them using it, it was really cool.

Reach on legendary I've pumped like 10 shells into the back, and it takes ~10 front hits with a guass hog to kill.
Yeah the Reach suckas were tough shit, but they were kind of clumsy. I like that they were intimidating at least though. Halo 3's campaign was so rushed that they hardly left an impact beyond the occasional "I'm big, bad, and kill me please."

Lol. Remember when a pistol shot to the back killed them? I do too.
And in every game but Halo Reach you could just blast them in the face.
Actually, shooting them in the face with the needle rifle is an extremely effective way to deal with them. Remember those Hunters at the entrance to Sword Base? That's precisely how I kill them.

Hunters in Reach were annoyingly hard, the ones in H4 are really fun to fight as you can quickly dodge their attacks with AA's and sprint. Also, there's always fun anti hunter guns to fight them most of the time when you find them.

The only Hunters I hated in Reach were those two hanging out with all of the Skirmishers when you are attempting to get to the MAC. That whole setup is just crap. Other than that, I enjoyed them in that game. I don't have a problem dodging them, it's usually an issue of finding a decent gun to kill them with because Bungie doesn't believe in ammunition.

From what I heard, Ops takes a relatively different approach to the Single Player because it's basically the culmination of everything that the devs wanted in the main campaign, but couldn't fit for many reasons. But ODX is right, you're gaining a bad mindset by assuming anything.

Given the sheer amount of raw talent at that company, I'm going to keep an open mind about this game. It may not be the same Halo I've loved so dearly in the past, but that doesn't mean it can't still be a good game set in the halo universe. I'll continue to hold my judgement until I've played it.

Regarding the ship, nobody seems to have noticed this: The ship just came out of slipspace, so it wouldn't have the time or the space to fire MAC rounds at the ship. Hell, they wouldn't even known that it;s there. Although, 343i should have let the ship come out somewhere else and then blow the crap out of the cruiser. If you freeze the frame where the ship smashes through the cruiser, you can see that it takes zero damage. In what universe does that happen? Then again, these are the same people who put gundam helmets in the game.

I wouldnt compare a battle cruiser to a grunt. The Infinity is an impressive ship and I love its design, but that cruiser has an internal structure, base super structure, corridors, plasma conduits etc. Infinity's prow should be bruised if not beaten to all hell by ramming another starship at that speed.
While we're on technicalities, a battle cruise that close to a slipspace gateway should have been shredded to all hell by the gravitation eddies being spewed out by that thing anyway.

Well personally, if I were a creative director at 343 and I got a mandate from Microsoft to make a new Halo trilogy continuing directly after the end of H3, I would try and come up with an entirely new enemy and threat in a brand-new kind of setting. I would try my hardest to keep away from the Covenant and the Flood, and look toward other elements of the fiction to find new styles of environments to explore outside of the standard Covenant purples, Halo greens, and Forerunner greys that so widely populated the original games. I would try and pick out the most basic elements that make Halo's combat unique - a carefully crafted set of conventional and exotic weaponry, each with a specifically designed function; the seamless integration of vehicular elements; a variety of enemy types, some intelligent, some not, each requiring different strategies to effectively combat; etc. - and find a way to take those elements and rework them into something new and original.
But that's just me.
E: oh and I'd also release it on PC the same day as the 360 version with a full-fledged editing kit and no GFWL, but again, that's just me

Except, Halo 4 doesn't have a carefully crafted set of conventional and exotic weaponry, each with a specifically designated function. 343i also didn't stay away from the Covenant, and they are still using the same traditional Halo settings. All they did was add in a new enemy type while keeping most of the old ones...kind of like every Halo game before, no?
By far the most interesting environment I've seen is that volcanic area in the Spartan Ops trailer.

I was thinking the same thing, but why is it then that ODST drop pods didn't get completely fucked when Regret's ship went into slipspace above New Mombasa? New Mombasa definitely got fucked up, but as we can see, it wasn't incinerated to oblivion as we saw in ODST despite its proximity to the Covenant ship. Then again, as Jcap pointed out, the Halo games don't follow their own lore. A perfect example of this is the ODST version of New Mombasa looks significantly different than the Halo 2 version. Pieces of the Halo 2 version that were untouched by the slipspace rupture were completely gone in the ODST version which makes it seem as though the Scarab boarding encounter never occurred.

Isn't Halo 4 using initial class loadouts like Call of Duty now?
Because how CoD works is that you have an initial loadout that you spawn with. After you spawn, you're free to swap for whatever you might find lying around. If I wanted to, I could carry an M16 and an AK-47 if I find them laying around. The Firepower armor mod is basically MW3's Overkill perk.

The firepower mod is exactly this. When you spawn, you can have a rifle and any of 3 pistol types. You can swap any gun for any gun anytime in game, once you've spawned. With that perk you get to spawn with 2 rifles and no pistol, so as stated earlier, you spawn with a DMR and an AR, instead of a DMR and a pistol/plasma pistol/boltshot.

H2 Id agree had some of the best environments and story telling, but the gameplay in it suffered greatly. You spend most of the campaign without human weapons and fighting flood, not to mention the gameplay was incredibly broken and frustrating throughout most of it.
H3 only had 4 missions of story, and a bunch of random shit on earth, since everyone complained we didn't spend enough time on earth in H2. Now we have 2 games that take place mostly on earth (H3 and ODST) and Reach (which was earth with a different name), so going back to exploring the forerunners was one of the things I loved in H4.

I don't condone sexism for sure, but just because all of a sudden some of the project leads are females they feel the need to start a campaign about eradicating sexism from the game. Personally I feel racist comments are more vicious when people use them. To me that is more the pressing issue, and it occurs a lot more often than sexism comments.

And Halcyon's right. Get over it Timo.
"We're being hunted." - I see what he did there.
They show Fred's and Kelly's faces. Really interesting. This may be the last episode of the series, but it's really cool. It has that Sci-Fi narm to it that most beloved Sci-Fi productions have to them.
Cortana needed some cheek bones though: they are not consistent with the ones we see in Halo 3 and Halo 4.

So I'm playing through Halo 1 -3 to get a refresher and something funny has happened on Oracle in Halo 2. The two elites with Rtas died but the grunts lived. Both of them lived pass the bottom of the elevator sequence and into the containment room with all the turrets. I gave them plasma rifles and needlers and they were holding their own. Halo 2 was one of those games where I went out of my way to protect my allies because they had the most interesting dialogue in this game.
The entire time the grunt with the needler was making these apathetic AUGH noises, like he knew he was probably going to die and why the fuck did he have to deal with this shit. It's kind of hilarious. They eventually died in the containment room, there was a mishap with a plasma grenade and...3 carrier forms.

Oh man, id restart if my men died. Not too long ago I played Sacred Icon, and I found 4 grunts and 2 jackals on the way(as usual), I gave both jackals carbines and grunts needlers. At the part with the enforcer, right before the gondola, I just jumped right down, assuming they were all gonna die there, turns out that i drew its fire, so when I jumped down, all of the grunts and jackals end up pwning this thing. Then, after the gondola got to the other side, I thought we were fucked with the flood. EVERY SINGLE ALLY LIVED. Even though they have no firing positions or anything at that point. They couldn't follow me after that :(

This bullshit with the 'let's give the elites/brutes/grunts their own language in the games too!' has to be one of the stupidest things about the most recent changes to Halo. For crying out loud, don't fix what ain't fucking broken.
Halo4 grunts already look like shit. The least they could have done was made them sound decent.
It's like how GTA tried to get more 'serious' in IV. It was acceptable. But it's not acceptable to touch my fucking grunts.

Chief wakes up where he left off in Halo 3, floating in the broken remains of the Forward Unto Dawn. Cortana wakes Chief up because they've been boarded by some Covenant who were presumably guarding the planet you see in the Halo 3 Legendary ending.
This planet turns out to be a dyson sphere shield world.
You go inside, discover the Prometheans and some tid bits about the Forerunners.
You start picking up a signal, it's the UNSC Infinity responding to the distress beacon Cortana had been playing from the Dawn.
You realize you need to warn the Dawn away because there was no discernible way out of the dyson sphere.
You realize some glowing tower energy things are causing interference, you work on disabling them but instead you awaken a Forrunner surviver. He was basically the military leader of the Forrunners. He's pretty damn powerful.
The Coveneant ally themselves with him.
Infinity enters the sphere and you meet up with Latski, Cheif is placed under arrest by the Captain of the Infinity, Chief doesn't give a fuck since he's the Chief and has better things to do like stop the Forrunner douche bag from activating the Halo's on a quest for vengence against the Flood.
There was also some point where the Forrunner dude talked about how the Forrunners encountered the Human race long ago, and that they went to war with them to protect their area of space. The Forrunners then found out that we weren't expanding agressively, but running from the original Flood. Flood destroyed both civilizations since the original humans weakened the Forunners.
Anyway, Chief goes after the Forrunner douche and ends up killing him.
That's my synopsis of Halo 4.

Some weapons have plenty of ammo, or replacements lying around, some don't. But generally, there is less ammo lying around than in H1. You won't have to melee everything, but you will have to make do with sidearms fairly often. Mostly because the general ammo capacity of all the weapons weirdly low, like you can only hold 44 total needler rounds :\
