Why the hell can I not 'Manually manage music and videos' from more than one computer? Why have the option if your taking a large portion of it's use away from it.

Does anyone know a work around?

Yeah, kill yourself, then respawn, problem should fix itself. If not, rinse, repeat.

Thanks higga, it mends my wounds knowing that Apple was infiltrated by racists.

Apple loves restricting the way you do things, whether it's on iOS or on Mac or on standard iPods.

It's pretty sad when an expensive iPhone is unable to do things that my rather basic non-smartphone is very capable of doing, from Bluetooth file transfers to REAL music management to the ability to view files that are dragged and dropped from my PC.

I heard there are some convoluted ways around this, involving jailbreaks and SSH, but I cannot confirm.

Jailbreaking and SSH will let you do pretty much anything you can imagine. There are apps for everything else.

Either do what freelancer says or buy an android device. Only solutions I see, other than apparently paying 650 for an unlocked one from Apple soon.

then what pray tell is he having issues with specifically? It is easy to say it doesnt work for him, but he needs to tell us what part is broken for him, not that it doesn't work. I bought a tablet from woot (Viewsonic Gtablet) that was shit and I read enough to make it useful (screen is still a POS), so if he could post a specific problem, chances are we have solutions. I personally own nothing by apple; not b/c I don't like them just do not care enough to spend money on them. I hope they pay their industrial eng very well. Can not deny a solid built product, even if a few factories blow up. (Joke...Sort of)

My friend has no problem popping in and copying my files to his device, never bothered to ask how he did it as I assumed it was a straight forward process.

Am I missing something?

iv had one experience with ipods. it was my sister's, and before i could even do anything with it, i had to install itunes, and after that when i plugged the ipod in itunes went crazy. i finally managed to get some music on it, and it worked alight, but it was still a pain in the ass.

also, that nigger brown thing is hilarious

Well the videos and songs when synced arent just files moved across onto your iDevice, instead they get put into weird folders with werid names and all the song info is stored into a special database. You can use something like DiskAid, which allows you to connect your device in by USB and copy stuff over, its real quick too.
