id be a lot more excited if i hadnt spent 10 dollars on it and played it one time for 5 hours. i guess there will be a lot new players now, so now would be a good time for me to pick it up and actually learn the intricacies of it.
i do find that funny though, supported entirely by ingame purchases. its not like it hasnt been on sale every other weekend on steam anyway.

There's a referral system in place now, where if you upgrade your account to premium status by making a purchase in the Mann Co. Store, you can tell Valve the person who recommended the game to you.
IF ANYONE HERE GETS THIS GAME YOU NEED TO TALK TO ME BECAUSE I WANT REFERRALS DAMN IT.

All these promo items really has pushed the limits for me and, I realy hope this doesn't introduce an insane amount of cheaters to the game.

Welp. There goes any hope of a tf_vanilla server cvar. One of the selling points is character customization, and god forbid any hats get hidden.
At least people who bought the game are premium accounts from the get-go.

Oh god no. Yet another overall-useless statistic for Hat Storetress 2 players to obsess over and get more hats from.
Valve wants it to be a tool for people to meet each other, but you know all it's going to do is inundate TF2 forums worldwide with "REFER ME PLZ."

You know, people could create multiple accounts, buy a backburner on that account, name their main account as referrer, and get hats that way. :P It will just make hats worth next to nothing, unless they are something that isn't tradeable. Or you have to refer x number of people to get an item.

I've never bought anything from the Mann co. store and I never will~
I want my $20 back or at least have it credited to the in-game store. :saddowns:

The quality of the community and game has absolutely plummeted since last September, so no, now would not be a good time to reinstall it.

The only threat to cheaters was having to buy the game again. -Robin Walker
Expect it though, since this is going to turn into HCE, crammed full of Mexicans and dipshits.
Still not gonna play it.

What is it with American/European players and constant bitching about Brazilians, Mexicans and Russians?
I'm seeing it in every thread about this on every board I go to :S

At least in terms of Halo CE, most Mexican players seem to be freeloading, cheating pirates. Most of them are horrible at the game, flood the Gulch servers, and can't speak English, so of course most English-speaking players perceive them as being stupid.

The Mann Co store is nothing but Valve's introductory model to create games as a service. Now that TF2 has gone free to play, that idea has become realised. You just play the fucking game, it's really not that big a deal.
Pretty much everyone complaining about it is being a whingy bitch
There is not a thing wrong with any of the TF2 updates. All the complaints result from overzelous bullshit that doesn't actually hold up in a proper arguement. Play the game, have fun. It's really not that big a god dam deal.
Also, Vanilla servers

Considering Dane is the one who is always of the rocker with some huge luminati conspiracy I'm amazed he hasn't jumped on the bandwagon and claimed Valve is some part of a global plan, a step in the new world order.
So to claim that everyone is being whiny is pretty good going coming from him.

so if you bought the game before it went free, youre automatically premium? does that mean you get ingame benefits or something? because i just played this game for about 2 hours, and a couple somebodies were bitching incessantly about people paying for premium to be good. also lol sel, i never uninstalled it. i did however realize my hard drive space was slowly decreasing over the past few months, and steam downloads tf2 updates every now and then. i guess i know where my HD space is going.
how much of the 10 gb this game takes up is hat data?

Not really, there are plenty of premium white europeans/north americans who are dipshits too!

The benefits of being premium are getting a hat, and dickheads not kicking you all the time from their servers because they're all whiny bitches about F2P people.
Honestly, of the whole update the influx of people are the best part, and as usual the abysmal tf2 community steps in and finds means to ban them automatically from almost every server that matters lol.
