So I've already made the decision to upgrade my RAID array to a proper RAID card (LSI 9260-8i) because of the problems I'm currently having. Since the new card is a proper hardware RAID card I'll be setting up a RAID-5 again using 3x2TB drives for now. The card can dynamically expand the RAID volume so I can add 5 more 2TB drives in the future to expand the storage capacity to the 14TB that I want.

Anyhow, the problem I'm having on my shitty Sil3114r5 software RAID card right now is displaying the following errors:

RAID Group/Path/Target 0:2:0, Sense Data 70:00:0b:00:0 (ScsiError)
Member 2 (Path ID = 2, Target ID - 0 dropped from group 0 "legacy"
Rebuild aborted, Group 0, Member 2
This happens when the RAID is trying to rebuild, the drive on Channel 2 of the card drops out of the RAID-5 to "Orphan" mode. If I delete the Orphan and attempt a rebuild I get the above errors. If I restart the system until it starts to rebuild then Channel 2 will eventually drop during the rebuild as well.

Do you guys think it's the HDD on Channel 2 or the actual RAID card itself?
