A friend of mine showed me this, we'll probably en up getting one and colocate that bitch on a fiber line when we win the lottery and roll in enough cash to afford a fiber line.

It’s been over a year since Backblaze revealed the designs of our first generation (http://blog.backblaze.com/2009/09/01/petabytes-on-a-budget-how-to-build-cheap-cloud-storage/) (67 terabyte) storage pod. During that time, we’ve remained focused on our mission to provide an unlimited online backup (http://www.backblaze.com/) service for $5 per month. To maintain profitability, we continue to avoid overpriced commercial solutions, and we now build the Backblaze Storage Pod 2.0: a 135-terabyte, 4U server for $7,384. It’s double the storage and twice the performance—at lower cost than the original.

What I linked to has a significantly better storage:cost ratio... Why would I buy that Dell 4U chassis that holds less for likely more money in the long run.

You know, all that money could get me through most of my next year of university.
2 Terabytes is plenty of space to last a year or 2, probably more.

My 6 TB drive is an LSI 9260-8i running RAID-5 with four 2TB drives. Meaning I can still add 4 more to total up at 14TB.

How can you guys even fill up more than 1 TB? Do you just download really big stuff and never delete it or something?

HD Movies, TV shows, Documentaries... Pretty much anything 720p+ takes a lot of space.
