It's still limited in some ways, but that's to greatly help us out in the future. Crytek is building a permissions system so you can lock out anyone from working on your stuff except the people you have on your team. The side effect to that is until it's patched in, only you can work on your levels. This can supposedly lead the way to a storefront.

They also seem to have forgotten a couple of exporters, lol.

Gahh its so limited, they dont have all the entities and stuff that are in Crysis 2 like Crysis 1 had. There goes the option of making some nice quick Multiplayer maps :(

This is the indie developers kit, not the editing kit, Guardian, you can get the SDK from Crydev as well.

Yeah, this is for making things from scratch. If you're wanting to map, download a mod SDK for a Crysis title.

Yeah, Either than or go back to mucking round with CE2.

Yes, this SDK is very nice. I wonder if I should wait to see if their will be an SDK for frostbite 2, or just learn cryengine instead of waiting. Does anyone know if you can import terrain from 3ds max into this SDK?

Doubtful that there will be an SDK for Frostbite 2. DICE has said they have no plans to license out the engine, and in this case I don't think EA is going to force them to. Besides, EA is already going to be getting a cut from CE3 licenses, no?

The FB2 infrastructure is so horribly designed, they'd never be able to get it non-commercially viable.

How so? Is it the fact that it takes a whole week to compile a map? :allears:

Same reason they said no mod tools for BF3, basically. Long story short, DICE stated that the engine was made to run well and look pretty, but not necessarily be easy to use.

No, the fact that if the machine compiling maps ever goes down, they can't proceed on updating any assets till everything is recompiled from scratch.

Anyone here actually doing anything with this?

I was messing around a little bit, but I never had the chance to try and build something.

Someone should work on re-creating the big Battlefield 3 maps in CE3.

Would be interesting to see a comparison between frostbite and cryengine.
