CD Hash to CD Key?

Have a copy of my CD Hash, thanks to rec0's app. I was wondering if there was anyway to convert that into my CD key? Could save me a lot of trouble as well as save me a few bucks... Would like to play this game again you know. :)

There isn't. If you could do that then piracy would be WAAAAY more rampant. If you have the game installed somewhere still though, you can use a tool (forget its name, but I think it was made by TheGhost) to recover your key from the registery.

That's not the CD Hash though.

The great thing about a hash is...it's one way and still unique and cannot be reversed unless brute forced.

You could try rainbow tables since the hash is not salted BUT it's very unlikely it's going to work since the original string is very long. I don't even know if just the pure CD Key is digested in the first place.

i remember rec0 did make a program to get the keys from the hashes, but for obvious reasons never released it.

rec0 cannot have made a program that reverses a hash. Like I said, it's only possible one way unless he made a program that brute forces and maybe has an installed filter for Halo keys but even then it would take a lot of time to just reverse one hash.

afaik the CD Hash is a MD5 digest of the original key (or just part of it). Maybe Korn can shed some light on this.

I remember talking with rec0 a bit about that as well, but at the time I was trying to get him to make the team icon hack for the CE videos or something??

I don't doubt that he found a way to reverse the hashes, but the speed of our hardware back then would surely have been an issue. Works in theory, but you'd end up dying because it took so long in practice... rec0 nooooooooo... :ohdear:

That guy would be me. Amit was the the first person I sold a "CD-Key fresh out of a sealed box" in the mean time I've sold 8 keys so far.

As for Hash to CD key, some secrets are meant to be kept for obvious reasons, so don't dig down too deep in the rabbit hole because it gets quite dark and will do us all no good. :ohdear:
Your best bet would be as mentioned, obtain your key from the register. If that fails you have the alternative of purchasing a new CD-Key.

I think i know what the "Hashing" method is for the cd had, When i was making my servertool i thought about it too. But never went anywere and now i can't find out anything cause i don't have a server to get a hash from.

I tried to see if it was the same way as a windows product key it made a key but it wasn't correct. So I am going to mess with the way it inputs to try and get it right.

the only problem with me trying to get cdkey's from hash's is i don't have the original keys or any way to test them.

If the hash is a true hash it's fucking impossible...do you guys get it now?

If this is a true hash and rec0 made an app for it it's probably a brute forcer with an installed filter e.g. total length of 26 chars, first 2 are always letters etc.
