Port Forwarding (http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm)

If you have Windows sp2, go to the control panel and just turn off the firewall. Turn off all virus protection, and any third party firewalls as well. Go to your router settings, make sure DMZ is on, and apply it to your network IP. (192.168.1.x)

Now port forward the halo ports, 3201, 3202 on TCp/UDp protocol.

Go to c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\ect and find the hosts file. BACK IT UP. Now open it in notepad and this:

192.168.1.x Your IP
Your IP Your IP

Ex: My hosts file says:

192.168.1.50 67.60.x.x
67.60.x.x 67.60.x.x

Then go into Halo and see if that fixes anything. If it doesn't then congrats you have just wasted about 5-15mins of your life. Or if it does then... have Fun.

Xet... You have no idea what your talking about.

If he is on the DMZ he isn't behind the routers firewall anyways and wouldn't require port forwarding. The only reason I suggest it is that he might need portforwarding plus dmz for this to work.

Are you sure your IP address is x.x.x.4? and not x.x.x.101? It says 101 for Half Life, and 101 is pretty common for default.

You do know you can enter "2302-2303", right?

The 101 is something I forgot to change when I switched my IP's around for my Wireless

@Kalub - I have Vista, so there is no Hosts file in my system32 folder

Oh, I am afraid I am more geared towards fixing Windows 2000 and Xp Home/Pro computers. Actually, I'm certified by Cisco Networking technologies to only fix those Operating Systems.

I'm very sorry I couldn't help. But if you wish to continue, could you please open command prompt and type

ipconfig /all
And take a screen shot and show me what it says. I might be able to help from there.

Do you have a static IP? If not, that might be the problem.

Get a static IP by following These instructions (http://portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm)

Maybe turning off WAN Ping Blocking will make it work?

Turn on UPNP then just use vista's built in port forwarding function to set it up.

Lets see if it works...

EDIT: No it doesnt... Does anybody think disabling WAN Ping Blocking will work?

I'm afraid your wrong, in Halo you can join your own dedicated server.I'm not sure who told you that you couldn't but they are far mistaken.

We're talking halo 2 right? I know it can be done with halo 1.

Since this thread was started about a Halo:PC issue, I was generally and usually should be talking about Halo:PC.

Please read the thread before posting.
