View Full Version : So I need to make a TF2 server

At a LAN, I'll be running a TF2 server off my computer. Last time I tried to set up a server for a Valve game it was CS:S and I gave up after the second hour waiting for it to do shit. Anyone have a guide on how to set one up now, tips for getting it up faster, and how to set up a maplist etc.?

dunno if anyone can help you here.

most of the guys that played tf2 got disgusted with it after the polypack update... or even earlier with the heavy update and left or stopped playing.
most of us moved onto starcraft and i think pooky went back to JK2 :/

You can host it locally can't you? I know you can with CSS when I've played it at lans (surely you don't need a dedi if you're playing with only a few mates).

It'll take some reading but it's not terribly hard. Skimming over it that looks really similar to how I set up a l4d2 server before.


You can host it locally can't you? I know you can with CSS when I've played it at lans (surely you don't need a dedi if you're playing with only a few mates).
This is probably the better choice if you don't want to work with dedi server files.

It's really sad considering how much I fucking loved TF2 when it came out. Played that game for hours on end. Hours.

e/ meh, looks like my stats got reset. I know I had more than 1000 hours, and the majority of them were as Spy, Scout and Medic.

Man, I remember being so ridiculously good at Medic that people complained about my syringe gun.
