I saw "JTF2" in the video.

Canadian Special Forces actually recognized by a game developer/publisher?? This is outstanding news! Depending on their level of involvement it might be worth playing "Generic Shooter Game: Tier 1 Special Forces fight OpFor enemy".

Yeah, I noticed that, but I think they are just doing that to get people from multiple countries interested in the game. It's probably just a shout out more than anything else.

So what, they just reused the BF3 engine and assets to poop out another game?

Please, no more modern military shooters...this is worse than when WWII shooters reigned supreme.

You have three choices for shooters Warsaw.

Past, present, and future.

All have been done to death, deal with it!

Interesting. I was a huge fan of MoH back in the day. I'll wait and see if this game is any good.

It wouldn't be so bad if any of these games actually tried to innovate new ideas or stories besides the SSDD nonsense (RB6 looks to be actually doing this though). I mean shit, if they're going to crap them out like a old fart on a high fiber diet, then they could at least be iterative of this instead of just doing it all in one new game.

Shooter games are becoming TV series. Where a TV series comes out with a new season each year, these franchises just poop out a new game. At least most TV series have something new to offer to keep you watching each year. Sadly "hey, there are guns that you can shoot ur friends with in this game!" sells. Damn unsophisticated gamers.

I feel like that was true before too, its just that with the internet it becomes a big deal. There were scores of SNES games that were terrible. But they weren't memorable, so we don't think about them all that much.

I laughed out loud when I read this phrase, not only because it's true, but because the idea of it is hysterical.

(RB6 looks to be actually doing this though).

Most of its high-level staff just got fired (http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2012/03/07/ubisoft-montreal-decapitates-rainbow-6-patriots-development-team.aspx), so I guess that says something

this MoH thing just looks like EA's "solution" to CoD pumping out a sequel a year, since obviously the best way to compete with a franchise is to just ape it directly right

this is a good point ive been meaning to address for a while now. there have always been terrible games, and there always will be terrible games. it just seems like when older games were really good, they were really fucking good. i feel like we dont see that as much today. i mean, what would today's equivilent to the original castlevania be?

How about alternative universes?

The problem is that WWII and modern shooters will always have the same weapon sets and enemies and stale play. There is no more excitement, no more awe (except at graphics), no more wonder. I'm tired of playing as your average American G.I., British SAS dude, or Russian Spetsnaz. What if I want to play as some new, far-future, anachronistic soldier whose got particle accelerator rifles that can cut through a tank, but has to shelter in trenches due to plasma batteries over the hill?

Rainbow Six: Patriots actually looks to mix it up a little, bit it will still be full of the same modern guns, familiar locations, two-shot kill enemies, and a player who soaks up bullets like a sponge. Give me more games like Metro 2033.
