In this thread, we discuss games from our past childhood that deserve to be recognized with todays graphics or future upcomming graphics.
My picks:
Either a remake or sequel to Zombies Ate My Neighbors

Killer Instict remake or a third game of the series:

Original Deus Ex
Half-Life: Opposing Force (or even better, bring back Adrian Shephard)
Max Payne 1 (and add in the original 2001 constipated grin as an unlockable, with HD styling to make him look even more constipated)
BF2 (yeah I know there's B2K, but the balancing mechanics in BF2, especially the jets, still feel better).

KotOR II I needs a proper sequel, not an MMORPG.
FTFY.
Also, Ocarina of Time needs a proper remake with current (Twilight Princess) graphics.
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory needs a proper sequal (same gameplay, story that makes sense and is believable). NONE OF THAT 24-esque, "DURRR my daughter got hit by a train, IMMAH ANGRY GUY NOW, look at mah' beard!" shit pile of a plot.
Republic Commando definitely, and Half-Life 2 in my lifetime plz

I thought Double agent wasn't particularly bad I thought it had it's moments, but conviction was a story I couldn't stand. They went in the wrongest direction it could have ever gone. EVER.
I also like Kotor 2 as much as the original, albeit it was a bit shorter without quite as much character progression but I still did several playthroughs in both games.

I absolutely loathed Double Agent. To be fair, the gameplay was not completely ruined yet, it was more or less the same as CT, albeit the retarded instances during broad daylight when the game basically forces you to gun n' run. Sam Fisher was the definition of covert op baddass-ery before DA. He was the US's boogyman that struck during dark rainy nights. The only purpose that his daughter served in those times was a means to humanize him in the 3 or so cut-scenes. I got very attached to the sarcastic assassin with a dark sense of humor, but also a soft side for his only family.
And then DA happened... And they killed off his daughter... And my favorite game character of all time gets thrown into a sadistic rage whose only motivation is "KILLL THINGGSS". I would rant more about how the gameplay gradually went to shit, but I blame DA most as being the turning point of ruining Fisher's character and the amazing plot lines that the earlier games had.
KotOR II was really good though?
And to be fair with KotOR II, the gameplay was still awesome, in that Obsidian had the common sense not to change anything that Bioware laid out for them. I could also see how the plot probably seemed awesome when it was on the drafting boards, but in the end both the game and how the story progressed was mediocre. The plot was only vaguely linked with the first game, not to mention the game itself was shipped out unfinished. Entire planets and thick side quests were cut out of the game due to time constraints. Still a great game in it's own right, I agree, but does not stand at the same level as I.
My main arguments here are about characters and story telling. We are talking about sequels, so I feel like these points definitely matter, otherwise the devs might as well just go and start knew franchises with new characters and stories. (which apparently they have, else this thread wouldn't exist...)

I absolutely loathed Double Agent.
I was merely speaking from a gameplay point of view. Play the first mission of Double Agent and it feels absolutely Splinter Cell, though I must say the levels I liked were fewer and far in between than previous games. And the story actually had some good ideas, infiltrate a terrorist cell and all. Not to mention the ending was pretty bad ass listening how they took him into custody and within like 24 hours had already gotten away. And that's where the coolness ended. Conviction had no super awesome suit, with awesome goggles, with an awesome EMP pistol, and no super sneakiness as had been in previous games. Convictions had missed everything that had made splinter cell, not as many cool gadgets, not as sneaky, and overall felt like a run and gun, stupid plot lines aside the gameplay was just not the same...

Nope had it on 360, like I said personally I didn't mind it at all, I guess we'll have to disagree, I'm not saying it was the best game ever but it did have to its cool moments. Never played it on PC, but I did get conviction on PC and that was unbearable.

well said. While I didn't care much for Double Agent's plot, I agree that gameplay-wise it felt more or less intact and in line with the standards of Chaos Theory (which NEEDS a remake/sequel - right now there's only a PS3 remake with a bad framerate and the MP cut out). The gadgets, the use of lighting, the vulnerability, the save-the-bullets-for-last mentality, that was all done pretty well, on both the xbox/ps2/gc and 360/ps3/pc versions.
Conviction just ruined the series IMO. While I'm not against trying to innovate by introducing new mechanics, the game just felt too dumbed down and became more of an arcade shooter than a stealth game. The fact that I could take enemies' weapons and then sit in a doorway and blast them one by one with unsilenced full-auto fire without getting mowed down in half a second... that was just unbelievably disappointing.
Also, forgot to mention THIS awesome game from the 1990s (PC and PSX):

back in middle school the powerpc Macs had this game preinstalled, and oh my god, my friends and I were so addicted (it also had split screen co-op and versus). I'd easily drop $50 on a proper HD remake.

Ensemble's dissolution is one of the reasons I'm a bit sour towards Microsoft. Thankfully we have Robot (for now), but Ensemble just brought so much to the table in terms of classic gaming. Hell, I wish I could play Halo Wars right now (no 360 currently) just because it's a pretty addictive RTS. I can't een begin to count the number of hours I have spent on AoEII alone.

While they made a second one of this game, I never played it, but the mechanics were awesome, an RTS where you control Mechwarriors, and it actually took quite a bit of strategy. Such as running into a situation with the wrong pilot in the wrong mech could change the course of battle, or which mech you used for cannon fodder could make a big difference what gets shot up at the beginning or at the end of the mission

They should remake consoles as well. I'd throw my hat in for the 1985 Halcyon Console by RDI Video Systems.
Not because it shares my name, but because the system would be entirely voice-activated and would sport an on-board Artificial Intelligence system on par with HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Plus, every game on it would look like Zelda CDI.
I'd also like to see the Sega Dreamcast come around for a second time.
It could do without that dinner-plate of a controller though.

FF7, I'm surprised I didn't think of it. If they did a straight remake no changes and just graphics update (maybe voice acting as well?), I would go out and buy a PS3 for that reason alone. That game still stands out in my mind as the best game I have ever played.

If you're talking about Halo: Anniversary then they changed the most important thing, Multiplayer. That ruined the entire thing for me. I've played the Halo 1 campaign a million times, I'm only going to play it once again for a new version. Multiplayer on the other hand is something that I'd be spending a great deal more time on.
