I thought that the only incomplete portion was the actual BSP they wanted to use... If that's the case, release it with the default Halo background.

When I first joined this forum the original thread was up.

A year later, Snafubar was joking it would never get released.

3 years after that the 30th thread was made.

In Snaf's memory, we should just pass it around small time lulz.

The UI version I have looks pretty plenty enough and is functioning, sure more could be done to it but why. This project was never meant to be released apparently.

I have an unprotected copy of revelations still (actually 3 builds, including the final one I believe), so the tags aren't lost.

If I don't work on it this summer, I'm going to release it. If I can't find time after my spring term ends, I will never find time to do what I want with it.

Still looks like that screenshot (unless the version I have is out of date). I always wondered why the UI hasn't been released yet, it looks complete?

The single player menu was the first area we did up, so it's hard to say if you have the latest iteration or not. It was supposed to have a flash BSP to go with it that never got around to getting finished. By the time it did jcap didn't like the UI anymore and wanted to essentially start from scratch. I just don't have the time or the motivation to go through and redo everything. What I did wasn't really that hard, but it took a huge amount of time and effort to find all the references to everything and how to actually modify the tags without breaking everything.

Once the interface was polished off it got passed around a few people. That was at least 4 years ago now, can't say i'm surprised that a lot of people that either jcap or I didn't directly give it to got a hold of it.

Why not just do two releases? The last time I talked to you about it (must have been over a year ago now) you were keen to just scrap everything. But then it is your call, unless someone "accidentally" leaks it onto halomaps.

I just grabbed a version with a TSC background and Covenant Cruiser in the sky. I'm not sure how far along that one is, the SP menu doesn't look like it odes in the previous screenshots (I have SPV3 TaR in there). There's no map pictures/descriptions/level icons.

CMT got the tags at sometime back in the middle of SPv2's development, except they never got used because of they hit the map size limit.

Makes sense. Still, having Masterz jump in and say he had the tags got a laugh out of me, just because of all the old TAGS HURR jokes.

Yeah, let's be somewhat honest, projects like this are often far more interesting when we don't have them than when we do. If the tags are released though, at least we'd be able to use them to make UIs with whatever bsps we wanted. I've always wanted to try to make one using precipice... Gameplay isn't that map's best element, so having something purely visual might actually benefit it.

Hrm, fair enough. Might not be bad to have options, but a final version should probably be put out before thoughts of new bsps could even be addressed. Public release of the tags is probably a bad idea overall, but perhaps a case-to-case basis might be arranged further down the line after release?

Amit is right. I really do want it to be done "right," which is why I'm going to give myself one last chance to actually do that. I wouldn't be giving myself this chance if a special someone didn't come to me last fall with a proposal to finish it. I just haven't had any time to work because it was just as fall term classes were starting. I hope they are still keen on completing it this summer!

If it works out, the wait will be well worth it. There's a lot that I don't like about the UI from the original concepts which I want to address.

Also, does anyone have a copy of Tool Pro? :x

I've two versions that I just tested. One is very buggy with death island, and a decent looking one with halo ring that works fine. It's been way too long and I think the halo ring one should just be posted.

The only thing I found wrong with the death island one, was that it didn't have support for inputting server passwords. What other bugs did I miss?

The one I have seems to be fully stable. It's the one with the Halo ring in the background. Unless I never took time to test all of it. :S

It was originally there because we had snafubar and a few others working on the big delta halo lake from halo 2, and you'd get to "admire" it at the press enter screen. But since this version has the default bsp it's pretty average to have.

For a while I attempted to get a UI working that would just jump straight to the multiplayer lobby (gotta save them vital seconds, pressing escape would take you to the main menu), but for some reason it'd always exception on load up.

Yep as far as I know that one is stable. Probably the best version for a release honestly.

When I actually played Halo I used Sunny's or UXB's d40 UI. Can't remember which. That was the best UI though :D

Our priorities are clearly wrong if you can't put in 10 hours a day to gaming.

8 hour day life (work/school/etc)
1 hour travel time
1 hour for food here and there
4 hours for sleep
10 hours for gaming

See it's fine.
