German court has ruled against Microsoft selling the Xbox 360 and windows 7 in Germany.
Meanwhile a US court has told Microsoft to carry on and ignore the injunction.

Saw this on reddit, tried to understand, brain froze, had to force an unexpected reboot, did not go back to try again.

germans also ban games for violence like the US effectively-bans games for titties, since over there video games are (legally) considered children's toys for children; it's a different place over there, man

also consider that Germany probably doesn't give a dick whether or not Microsoft gets to sell their product, while the US has something of an invested interest in one of their most successful home coroprations being able to make money

My favourite part of this (from the escapist article atleast, so not sure if it's accurate or what) is that they supposedly will just end up destroying the xboxes they can't sell. Good use of finite resources guys!

A "shock ruling" in a patent dispute between Microsoft and Motorola involving the H.264 video codec means the company will no longer be allowed to distribute its Xbox 360 console to retailers in Germany and might even have to recall systems currently in stock and destroy them.

Not sure how this relates to a US court over ruling a German court but ok.

this is actually confusing for me. from what i gathered, the patent was surrounding how you play h.264 files (a tech that google has supposedly moved away from in terms of a free html5 standard). if motorola is being acquired by google, then why are they pursuing a fight over an h.264 patent?

I'm supposing the point is to damage Microsoft since they are a chief competitor.
