Yes, it was presented at E3. Yes it looks amazing IMO. Found it very intriguing from only the intro video, and was just consistently elevated throughout the demo:

http://www.thegamingvault.com/2012/06/watch_dogs-hacks-the-world/
In an unprecedented move this year, Ubisoft announced a new IP, Watch_Dogs. And it looks sick.Watch_Dogs is a game about hackers. You control the area around you to cause havoc, allowing you to either sneak around while guards are busy, or use distractions during shootouts in progress. Your hacking abilities also gives you the power of information, letting you know dark secrets about everyone you meet, including criminal records and diseases. No consoles or release dates were mentioned.

My friend told me to watch the trailer for this, I thought he meant Sleeping Dogs, saw that trailer and was amazed.

This looks very very awesome, it is very similar to Person of Interest (TV show), which is fucking amazing and the fact a game has a sorta similiar story/world setting is amazing.

The trailer was very well put together too.

I cannot wait for more details on this!

This is looking more and more like the TV show "Person of Interest"
Right down to (one of) the main character's use of raspy-voice-dude

WD must be what would happen if GTA4 raped a hooker made of Splinter Cell who was then given as sloppy seconds to Desmond (wait, this game has AC/SC climbing around type shit, right?)

After Assassin's Creed 3, I feel like there's way too much of a chance of this game being a massive hand-holding session. AC3's actual gameplay just felt like ubisoft stopped caring about it being interesting and threw it in there to cement the story together. I can see this game following that same style. Start mission at a scripted point, follow this path, hack that camera, follow a certain individual without being spotted (oh you fucked up? lets just revert to checkpoint and try again), kill him, and then run away from the cops down a predetermined alley and jump onto the train that just so happens to be going by at this very moment.

I bought AC3 for the story. It feels like I droned through AC3, abusing the fast travel just to see what happened in the story. Could have saved myself 60 bucks and looked it up on youtube. Watch Dogs looks good, but there's no way in hell I'm getting this until I see some actual gameplay footage that isnt a trailer. I feel like there's a serious problem when I see a game and say "Oh boy the story looks great" while feeling absolutely nothing about the gameplay itself.

E: Conversely, Metro: Last Light has me regularly changing my pants, because I almost don't even care what the story is. The game itself looks engrossing to the point where I could play it through multiple times, and be surprised by the scenarios, not the story (but maybe the story too!).

Yeah, after like...30 minutes or less I couldn't keep playing AC3. Game was sooo fucking dull.

WD must be what would happen if GTA4 raped a hooker made of Splinter Cell who was then given as sloppy seconds to Desmond (wait, this game has AC/SC climbing around type shit, right?)Hah I know right! POI started off crazy raspy but he toned it down, nearly shat brix when I heard the guy in video speak. There must be some type of communication between both entities, the only difference is you are against cops by the looks of it, rather than being that heroic peaceful guy.

I just hope the game has enough little things to do, like they showcase those pollards coming out of the ground a lot in videos, I hope theres a ton of these small things you can do to really make situations unique and interesting.

I am all over this game when it releases.

It's like the week of PC specs.

Minimum

Supported OS: Windows Vista SP2 64bit, Windows 7 SP1 64bit, Windows 8 64bit
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 @ 2.66Ghz or AMD Phenom II X4 940 @ 3.0Ghz
RAM: 6 GB
Video Card: 1024 VRAM DirectX 11 with Shader Model 5.0 (see supported list)
Sound Card: DirectX 9 compatible Sound Card
This product supports 64-bit operating systems ONLY
Recommended

Processor: Core i7 3770 @ 3.5Ghz or AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0Ghz
RAM: 8 GB
Video Card: 2048 VRAM DirectX 11 with Shader Model 5.0 or higher (see supported list)
Sound Card: Surround Sound 5.1 capable sound card
Supported Video Cards at Time of Release:
nVidia GeForce GTX460 or better, GT500, GT600, GT700 series;
AMD Radeon HD5850 or better, HD6000, HD7000, R7 and R9 series
IntelĀ® Iris™ Pro HD 5200
The 64-bit OS requirement is somewhat restrictive, if increasingly commonplace. What really raises an eyebrow is that you’ll need 6GB of RAM just to hit the minimum suggestion. Steam’s hardware stats, an admittedly unreliable window into PC gaming hardware, suggests over 50% of its user-base are carrying 4GB or less. Not all of those will be machines specced to compete in the AAA gaming space, but even so, there are sure to be some users caught out.
In case you want to confirm these specifications for

new consoles, suddenly the specifications shoot through the roof. Lucky I planned in advance :D Only 0.5 Ghz short for the recommended.

Zeph
October 8th, 2013, 11:25 PM
Well, aside from the new consoles, you'd have to look real hard to find a computer with less than 4GB of RAM for sale now. 64 Bit OS gives devs a lot more leeway in setting a low config for games.

IMO, this needs to happen for PC games. At a certain point people need to upgrade their hardware and this will give them a wake up call.

Dwood
October 10th, 2013, 02:28 AM
Hey this is the first I've seen of the game. I'd play it purely for story reasons. Not to say I'd buy it yet, but the story looks somewhat compelling. Edit: I'm thinking this will play similar to fallout 3 and tea games have, as that's the only way I see something like this working effectively.

Watch dogs got delayed until Spring: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2013-10-15-watch-dogs-delayed-to-spring-2014

It was suppose to be my day-one release game for next-gen. I'm canceling that shit the next time I'm at gamestop. Tired of Ubisoft's failures.

Amit
October 16th, 2013, 10:26 AM
Well, hold on. They want to push a release back to make the game more finished? Isn't that a good thing in this day and age? In the past it was usually just the PC versions getting pushed back. I'd rather that than having games like Rome II and BF3 being released before they are actually finished.

I won't get fooled...again :caruso:

They wait until fucking a month before release to say 'oh no, we can't win next-gen with the current state of our project!'. Christ on a fucking bland cracker, who the hell manages production there?

You know what makes for great DLC? Content that had to be cut to ship on time. Especially when the ship date is that of a next-gen console launch.

Kornman00
October 17th, 2013, 01:36 PM
If I was still a mod (no, I'm not asking to moderate again), I would have done it already. Being the subforum nazi I was/am. There should be a system where the public can 'vote' to have a thread moved to a specific subforum. Would only consider long/good-standing members of course.

On topic: canceled my game yesterday. Along with my next-gen console and BF4 (next gen as well). Eat a dick Ubi.

Amit

Coincidentally I just spent $81CAD on BF4 today. Origin Mexico got me the discount, but I got some gay $10 tax added on so I really only saved $30 on Standard + Premium whereas everyone else is getting a $40 discount.

Not when the manufacturers pay the developers to let them optimize their rendering code so their customers get a superior experience.
nVidia is the fucking mafia of the graphics card world. If AMD got in there to optimize as well, they'd kneecap some people.

^^ This, 100% this. Nvidia has been paying devs to use their kits/code to optimize games for their cards for a long time. AMD has only recently gotten on that train.

In actuality it's the opposite, GameWorks needs to be licensed from Nvidia which means the developers pay Nvidia. Makes sense considering you're not only getting access to the GameWorks features but also Nvidia software engineers to help tweak everything for Nvidia hardware...
