Playing Diablo 3 now. Tbh I very much enjoy it, even though it does have its issues, primarily with Auction House, retarded hard elite packs in Inferno, and terrible account security (until you find out about the authenticator, which most casual players would not know about going in). In no way does the game warrant refunds like many butthurt hardcore D2 extremists out there are saying.
Serious question: How are so many people absolutely positive that Torchlight 2 is going to be AMAZING when Torchlight 1 didn't even have any multiplayer components?

I played Torchlight for a bit, but got bored after a while. I find the gameplay too repetitive.

Lol, I only ever played the beginning of Bioshock and never had the patience to finish it. I'm not saying single player games are bad. Half-Life 2 is amazing for example. I'm just pointing out that an ARPG like diablo and torchlight are best played with other people because of the farming and grinding aspects of those games. So how do you know Torchlight 2 is going to be amazing if its predecessor didn't have multiplayer? Not saying it won't be amazing, I'm just asking why all the hype?

implying a game needs to have a multiplayer component to be good.

Well I guess I am, for Action RPG's. Let me reword my question, cuz I'm not trying to troll this game, I'm looking for a straight answer. How do people know that multiplayer is going to be implemented well when there are no benchmarks to compare it to (Torchlight 1).
I guess you should understand my perspective also. I've been lurking the official diablo 3 forums just to keep an eye out for patch news. All the butthurt D2 extremists there are like, "Ha-dur, Torchlight 2 is going to put Diablo 3 to shame!". Where's their backup? How are they so certain? I want to know cuz if they're right, then I will also be inclined to pick this game up.

Well, D3 doesn't even work right now for one thing. The 1.02 patch gave a lot of people game-breaking performance issues, me included. When it actually did work I was getting constantly disconnected... from playing single-player. Online only blows.

Everything that was annoying or tedious in D1 and D2 where fixed in torchlight.
Multiplayer is in.
and these are the guys that MADE Diablo 1 and 2.

reason i asked this
who played torchlight?
who played any of the diablo's?

is because i have another copy of the game and i want someone active that actually likes the game to play with.

Why is multiplayer such a necessity? Who cares if Torchlight 1 didn't have multipayer? I have NEVER had a partner for a Dungeon crawler because my playstyle just doesn't work with another person.
I enjoy playing, yeah, but honestly, I'm all over the place. My playtimes can be anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour and a half, and I progress extremely slow because I vendor EVERYTHING.

The other guy said "How are so many people absolutely positive that Torchlight 2 is going to be AMAZING when Torchlight 1 didn't even have any multiplayer components?", as if the existence of multiplayer defines the quality of a game. I don't understand that mindset.

In some cases it does, in some cases it doesn't. I think we can all agree that Counter Strike would be pretty worthless without multiplayer. Most people play these dungeon crawler games because they want to play with their friends.

I played the Torchlight 2 beta with a solo character and a character with other people. In both cases I enjoyed myself more than when I played through all 4 acts of Diablo III co-op, so I can say I'm looking forward to it more.

Great people actually have interest in this game.
I'm looking to join a Torchlight I + II 4 pack buy on Steam, preferably with a US buyer :D (US buyer = Cheaper $15)
Make that 2 copies as I have a reliable friend who wants to join me on this one.
So if anyone is up for a 4 pack, let me know :)
