Does anyone know what kind of architectural style the precursors used? Did they use metals? Was it similar to forerunner architecture?

The only thing I can think of that might reference it is Bear's books used toilet paper, and that's probably not worth toenail jars as a source.

We've been given no visual representation of Precursor architecture or design philosophy. I imagined the Precursors as hyper-evolved Ethereal beings. Anything and everything they used could be dematerialized and rematerialized to fit whatever necessity was required. I kind of liked the starships of the aliens from The Knowing as a good reference point to the Precursors.

Precursors used MS Paint to design their buildings
True story, Frankie told me, it's part of a marketing tie in with Windows 8's Paint
that's obviously a lie lol

From what I heard, it's organic. Not like xenomorph/flood biomass. Almost more of a nano-tech type of organic compound. It shapes itself for whatever its purposes are for.
I guess the best thing to do is pretend.

After some intensive research into Greg Bear's books and 343 Industries's secret Halo Bible, I have concluded that this is what Precursor architechture looks like. Here's an example of three different buildings, you should be able to figure it out yourself from there :

Precursor architecure would probably be a manifestation of Forerunner (or rather that Forerunner architecture is a manifestation of Precursor architecture), but if I could imagine it's probably a lot of architecture that doesn't connect, but rather uses gravity-manipulation to bridge multiple segments. Hope that makes sense.

This may help some. (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Precursor)
I would also like to point out that I hate how they say the Forerunners killed off the Precursors. They were a trans-galactic civilization. I don't think they would stick in one galaxy the entire time. :v:

I don't even bother with the wikis anymore now that Bear's filthy influence has spread like a Flood STD... if that makes any sense. It's all a conspiracy I tell you, the Precursors are actually the Collectors that's why they're insects! O.o

Calling it now, Forerunners never lost the war, they only went into hiding to let the rest of the galaxy evolve hoping the humans would discover the "cure" to the flood again so that the Forerunners return to attempt to claim their stake in the galaxy again.

Jesus Christ, my God, if that happened I.... I.... I'm not so sure what I'd do. Really, kind of blank on this one.

Don't you find it odd that there were never any bones or even suits of the forerunners?
All of the facilities are empty, not empty as in everyone die but empty as in everyone left them.

Sentinels could've cleaned up while everyone was on vacation.

I just figured that the superweapons atomized everything sentient within the radius of the blast.

Greg Bear will make the ancilliasAI take control of the suits. That's where the Promethian Knights come from. :ugh:
