I always thought of it was a 'running series' with yearly 'seasons'. When I first saw this thread I thought you were gonna talk about yet another reboot or something.

Series sounds to me like you've cut loose from continuity and are starting something new. Season sounds like a continuation of what came before.

Oh of course, I almost always end up watching it online a couple hours after it airs, but having to wait a few days means that there's a much higher chance of being spoiled.

I know, I can just not have any social interaction whatsoever between the time I get back from my trip until I watch the new episode! Problem solved.
