After posting a comic that heavily hinted (http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/08/13/team-fortress-2-comic-robot-heads-and-massive-tank-tease-new-faction-and-mvm-mode/) at an organic-mechanical showdown in Team Fortress 2 this morning, the cinematic team at Valve have finally released a video confirming what might be their longest-hinted update ever: Mann vs Machine. It looks like the eternal, chromatically-opposed enemies of Red and Blu will be banding together to fight off a greater, mechanical menace in a new co-op mode.

I'm looking forward to this new game mode and wondering if it plays like GoW horde mode with infinite waves or it ends after a certain amount.

Played this mode on my server last night. It's fun, but it's got some bugs. Namely, if you fail a round and the bomb explodes (leaving a big hole in the ground), the blasted area doesn't reset when you start a new round. it results in robots flinging themselves into the hole repeatedly and dying. Other than that it's pretty neat

Me and a couple of friends tried to play yesterday but ended up leaving. The waiting time to get into a server was around 20 minutes but it kept jumping up and down.

Does that mean you can play the entire thing without even losing a round? :)

The first time I played this it was kinda neat but kinda okay. It's got lots of little kinks, a major one being huge FPS drops (to a slideshow) sometimes though that was only in the first game I played and only after it got to wave 4/6. Others are just because of the server overload from a new update coming out, hence the item server failure.
I played with ICEE this afternoon though and it was pretty enjoyable with him and his competent friends. Ran into that bug with the "failing round, hole still there" thing, but it was fun to run into it and go flying away. My only complaint is that sometimes it's too ridiculous. We had two tanks come one time, as well as enemies. I mean fuck, it already takes an entire team shooting the damn tank to blow it up before it gets to the base, and now there's enemies too? And then you send another tank? Shit damn. I even used three personal crits on soldier with 8 shots in a mag (mag? a rocket launcher? what is this I don't even).
Once this gets fixed up though, could be loads of fun.

It's pretty fun, but at the moment it doesn't filter our high ping servers. Ended up playing with 200 ping which made everything pretty impossible. Some of my NZ mates have been stuck into UK servers too :\

Yes.
By the way hosting a server isn't hard. You just need to download the HLDS application used to host any sourcegame server. However there are some specific settings to make MVM work properly.
Heres the information if you're interested in hosting
