watched it...did anyone else had stream lag occasionally?
also, could it be he broke the record for fasted speed and height but not descending time?

Watched it all live with Rob earlier. Amazing stuff, I was bricking it when he shuffled out the door, and when he was tumbling in the air I thought it went wrong :O

YouTube vid in OP doesn't work. Is set to Private.
Anyone have a copy of the live stream? I was going to watch it on the original day (Monday), then on Tuesday, then I completely forgot about it.

Yeah, I noticed this when he exited free fall at around 4:18. At first it surprised me, but then I thought of how little the delta terminal velocity was for more than half the drop. He quickly got up to about 700 miles per hour and stayed there for quite some time. I think it's kinda crazy that simply jumping out 50k feet lower would keep you in safe freefall for fifteen seconds or so longer but the math works out.
They have the record for highest drop so I think if they're going to do anything next it'd be finding that sweet spot for longest freefall if not fastest freefall speed (assuming they didn't reach mach 1).

Thats because he posted it when it was live, you'll have to wait till next month for the documentaries Freelancer.
And Zeph, I felt he pulled parachute too early, he did have problems with fog on his mask and so maybe thats why he pulled it early?
That fake twitter account had some hilarious tweets :D Sadly I didnt have a chance to read them all.

I'm pretty sure the chute autodeployed at 5k feet.

I had no idea that you could have that much control that high up.

One of these days, he's going to land on something as stubborn as he is...

The 'sweetspot' for longest freefall time would be orbit. Orbit is just freefall with a velocity that makes you continuously miss the surface of the Earth.
Sorry to burst your bubble.
More on topic, I had stopped following this shortly after they announced it. Was only reminded by skyline when he jumped. Was neat to watch I guess....

I'd pay $10 to see someone freefall from geostationary orbit.

if it were just a planetary orbit it wouldn't be skydiving, now would it? By that logic, someone on the ISS has the record for skydiving.

you talked about longest freefall, not skydiving.

Boasting about freefall time in any parachuting attempt is just as well as declaring to the world your ignorance on space travel.
ISS
nope
Valeri Polyakov holds that record. Set by his time spent on Mir.
Don't mind me just not so subtly implying that this stunt was just that, a stunt.
Kittinger's jump was a by-product of pressure suit development and project stargazer. This guy just wanted to be the top dog on a list of skydiving falls. It irks me that rb marketing and felix himself try to make it sound like more than that.
