i don't need a HUGE amount of space, i've always mnaged to just FINE with 100 GB worth of space on my laptop, and i kept to that habit of storing everything on another drive, but a bit more space wouldn't hurt either.
256gb would be ideal i suppose.
anyone have lots of knowledge/experience with these fucks?
from what i read a while ago, brand is kind of a big deal with these things, due to firmware etc.

I have a kingston 64gb. Hasn't failed me yet... well I did rip it out of my computer, and broke the sata connectors, but that's another story.

his initial list was correct...
Look for sales on slickdeals, and stay away from OCZ products

Same here. Kingston SSDNow V200 S3 series 64GB. It's small and not particularly fast compared to other SSDs, but the price and reliability is pretty good. It still blows the fastest hard drives completely out of the water to the point that you might not even care how it compares to more expensive SSDs or similarly priced, but less reliable SSDs *cough* OCZ Agility 3 *cough*.

Samsung 840 series is trickling out now, too. It'll probably be comparable to the 830, only faster...
On a separate note, the Nimbus 2001 is out, slightly better than last year's Nimbus 2000. Order yours today!
