No official thread for one of the best movies of 2012?

So obviously the movie sets itself apart from the usual Bond movies. It's not about MI6/CIA vs organized crime instead it shows the fallibility of M and Bond and ends the pre-Bond trilogy.

The movie reminded me a lot of the Dark Knight storyline; even though some parts were a bit too American-Movie-Style-Dialog but overall it was just awesome and kept the renowned Bond wittiness.

I also like they didn't give a shit about story continuity, e.g. he gets his old Aston even though that's the car he is going to drive time logically in the future? :iamafag:

So after Quantum Solace this is :allears:

Ugh, so 2 weeks ago...I was thinking of making a thread, but I figured you Americans might not be as interested as its a true British film, I'd like to say I'm pleasantly surprised.

I will say this, there are spoilers so be careful people who havent seen it yet.

I loved the film, it felt every scene had a purpose, the sets were amazing, diverse and really imaginative and very impressive. Even though it was the longest Bond, and a long film, it never felt like it was dragging, the pacing was perfect. Though I did go to the toilet 3 bloody times.

Its definitely within the top 3 Bonds for me, maybe even #1.

Spoilers below.
The house explosion was epic, I'm guessing it was a minature but still, impressive. I loved seeing the old Bond car, a real hommarge to the old ones. M dying I didn't see coming, it makes sense for the actress, shes done so many. The whole "I'm running away from bad guys who want to kill me, but I'll use a flashlight to see is very stupid."

America loves Bond, I don't know where you picked up that idea...

I'm going to see it on Sunday, while theatres are less crowded because all of the luddites are still at church...

Skyfall = Casino Royale (2006) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Quantum

Thank you Sam Mendes. Thank you Daniel Craig. Thank you Judy Dench. Thank you Javier Bardem.

Oh also, thank you Adele... I'm not a big fan, but that theme song was the best Bond theme in recent years, right next to Chris Cornell's. Perfect theme and lyrics to match the story of Skyfall. My only quip is the Bond girl... You know what happens (the OTHER Bond girl... Not the Rihanna look-alike).

What was that? Like the first 30 minutes when they decided to kill her off? I understand the point of it was to make us understand the villain but the Bond girl in this film was expendable... And she was plenty hawt too. Ms. Moneypenny was fine. M was outstanding in this one. I'm sad to see her go, but it was the perfect send-off too. I like the new Quartermaster. The bit with the modified PPK was great. And finally, the villain blew it away... He is to 007 as Heath Ledger was to The Dark Knight.

It was good, but I think Casino Royale has it beat by quite a bit: better intro sequence, better plot, better pacing. This one felt like it ended just as it was finally starting to kick into gear and was rather anti-climactic in that sense. I felt like I was left dangling at the end of the movie. Even Quantum of Solace was paced better than Skyfall.

And yes, this was the best Bond theme song in awhile.

I wouldn't quite go so far as to call the villain the Bond-equivalent of the Joker. He wasn't anywhere near as devious or sinister, not even close. Similar in his meticulous planning? Yes, and it was obvious that they were going for a Dark Knight kind of vibe, but it wasn't on the scale of shock-and-awe as the Joker.
