I've been looking around, and I can't really decide, but I know from experience that community feedback is necessary, so what gaming engine do you think is most suitable for an MMO game?

wow kiddo you have no idea what you're getting in to.
there is no 'best engine'
every engine has it's upsides and downsides.
you need to make a list of features that your engine NEEDS to have, and then base you descision on that gets the closest.
asking 'whats the best MMO engine' is just a dumb question.

Well, there are no dumb questions, just questions based on a dumb premise, but you are right. Like neuro said, make a list of features required for your game. After that, look up a list of game engines and compare them to the features on your list. Wikipedia has a large article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_game_engines) on 2D and 3D game engines from A-Z. It won't tell you much, but it'll point you in the right direction.
Just a few little searches led me up to WorldForge (http://www.worldforge.org/). Now, this engine isn't going to 100% top of the line, but if you want something that looks like it's running on the CryEngine, you'll have to look that up for yourself.

anyone saying 'there are no dumb questions' has never had to deal with the idiots i'm forced to put up with on a regular basis.

Meet the freshmen and sophomores at my school. They make "uneducated" look smart. I'd rather program in Malbolge than deal with to their kindergarten-level social skills.
EDIT: Seriously, these kids make Modacity look like the world's greatest think-tank.

The fact that you're asking what engine is best points to the fact that you can't be assed to do the research yourself. This indicates you've already set yourself on a path to failure.
Good luck!

^ What he said.
MMO's are extremely difficult to make, manage and support. Its why there is a huge gap in 'good' engines, simply because there is non public.

Yep. Ran into a guy a couple days ago who was asking why his build of the CE3SDK wasn't working properly. In his description of his computer was the following:
- No video card yet.

I've been looking around, and I can't really decide.
In my future endevors to build an FPS, I've been looking around too. I've compared a dozen different engines with a hundred different attributes and by my lonesome decided what would be the best one for me to use. Even before that I've considered delving back into C++ or C# to see if I could make a game engine from scratch (it's a lot easier to go for a pre-built engine, unless you're Korn). I'm not a code junky, but it was still a path I considered, not one that someone else put me on.
But I know from experience that community feedback is necessary, so what gaming engine do you think is most suitable for an MMO game? You aren't asking for community feedback. You are asking for others to point out engines to you. Compile a list of engines you find might be suitable for an MMO title, describe each of them a little bit, and throw in your own two cents about them before asking the community as a whole to tell you which one to use.
Insofar you've had little help, but that's because you didn't help yourself first. Make that list, tell us what you think, then we'll give you some feedback.

The best engine is your own, learn C++
You'll need to know how to code anyway if you were to use Unreal or Cryengine.
Like others said, either find the one that best fits you by listing what you want for your game... or you could take up the task of building your own engine and tools. There is plenty of resources and tutorials out there. If you want 2d you could try some SDL:

For 3d you could also try OpenGL or DirectX

I dont have tutorials for directx sry

I actually laughed out loud when I read that in class yesterday. Props, have some neutral rep!
