So Crysis 3 got released this week.
Anyone pick it up?
This game seems a lot more open than Crysis 2 was and it tried a fair bit to tie it self to the first game as well.
Psycho was a good character to have around again.

At some stage this year, I am buy a new computer. Just for this game. Looks beautiful and I've been a massive fan of Crysis since the 1st one (which is the best imo). However this one is looking like its could be doing its best to take top spot.

Not even interested in Crysis anymore. Crysis 3's story is such a radical upshift of events from the first and even second game that it's difficult to believe what is happening.

Agree with above ^, first game was great, intresting liked the story. This one looks another expansion off of the second one which is pretty dissapointing. The second's story was pretty mediocre for a high budget game, from the looks of it so is this one.

I tried starting it over the weekend but got annoyed at the first level. But then again, I hate most "realistic" shooters. I kept getting stuck on these catwalks where thered be guys I cant see pelting me with bullets non stop, and they seemed to spawn endlessly. Or I cant see them because the level is dark as fuck.

Must be your monitor because I could see perfectly fine on that level, also you can tag enemies with the binoculars if that helps or try using nanovision.

The thermal vision? I did do that but they still seemed to appear from no where. My TV is kinda on its last legs, even with brightness increased up all the way. I'm probably try it again, been to busy with Tomb Raider.

I'm considering buying Far Cry 3 though, anyone recommend it?

Far Cry 3 was okay, took me around 20 hours or so to beat it and do a buncha other stuff...but honestly, it starts to become really boring and repetitive. There's no real fun sidequests either, nothing nearly as in-depth as Skyrim. Everything is the same really: hunt this random animal, do this random kill, pick up this suitcase hidden in a boring cave. The environment is also really boring too, green and blue everywhere gets really stale really fast.
Maybe something worth picking up for $20 or less in the future, but not for $50 as it currently stands.

i wasnt fond of farcry 3 for a lot of reasons. the overarching one being that it just feels like a longer, open world, slightly more indepth call of duty campaign. theres a lot of lazy ass game design there too, like essentially being required to use that 3d tagging wallhax thing to know what critical targets you have to kill with a knife, and the constant barrage of HUD info boxes.
farcry 1 had this open world approach to linear objectives. i thought that was really neat. plus, it was actually difficult outside of random, uncontrollable bullshit. if you took the customization options and some of that wild life stuff from farcry 3, the multiple approaches to travel of farcry 2, and the objective / level layout of farcry 1, and youd have an awesome game.
farcry 3 though? it feels half baked, like devs made half of an awesome game, ran out of time or funding or something, then duct taped the other half together.

far cry 3 starts off seeming pretty awesome, but it does get stale fairly quick. don't do what i did and spend all your time trying to clear out the whole map of red, that's thE fastest way too get bored

skyrim has interesting dialogue, meaningful leveling, and an expansive lore. farcry 3 does not.

So yeah, bought crysis 3 even though my laptop by all rights should barely run it, and on all low it runs about as smooth as crysis 2, but really pretty. The graphics are amazing, even on all low. The story I enjoyed, I am glad they linked it to the original a lot more. I like playing stealthy in games and due to the fact I was running at ~15-20 fps and Post Human Warrior I felt like I was being forced to play that way, most of my time was spent using binocs and the bow. The environment of the game is great, I like that they've given you a bit more freedom than Crysis 2 had. So over all, really enjoyed the campaign. However I am a huge fan of the crysis fanchise. So I can see how a lot off people could find it a bit average.

Kinda surprised by this. I knew there was a version of the engine that worked with the Wii/WiiU, but I had no idea Crytek wasn't pushing it because of publishing issues. You would think that Nintendo would jump at giving liscenses for people to publish on the platform with how little sales they've had outside of handhelds lately. I'm beginning to think the Japanese console companies have really gotten out of touch with what the market has become despite trying to 'be innovative' with their platforms.

Maybe instead of marketing consoles that are a geneneration behind, they should focus on how to top the consoles of today, which we all know they once did.
