Hey all,

I need your help... I'm desperately trying to find "Blur_fix.zip" which was a .ppf patch that replaced/removed the scoped/zoom mask and got rid of the pixelated mess from scoped weapons zoom when applied to bitmaps.map. I'm sure there are other variations, and I'm open to whatever you've got

It was for HPC, I've searched high and low and only come up with dud links from years back. I am creating a lightweight multiplayer only distro of PC and CE to try and inject some life into the Australian PC and CE scene by making it much easier to go and play.

It will be a self-extracting *.exe with prompt for CD hash/key and out of the box set up 'like the old days' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4jIs7jjMFE) (using 1.07 exe w/ version changer and yelobattery which will all be preconfigured) and this is the last piece of the puzzle.

I appreciate your assistance, feel free to PM your findings if any of you track it down, but I suggest posting here as I'm sure I wouldn't be the only person looking for it.

Note: as I remember it, this fix was for PC only (as the ppf borked the CE bitmaps.map file.. I would be ultra appreciative if someone did have it, if they could manually apply the scopefix to a vanilla CE bitmaps.map and generate a similar .ppf? I can (hopefully) handle this if it's too much to ask, but again, it would be appreciated.

OK! good news! I managed to find it on a really old backup HDD (20GB IDE... far out)

There is the link for others looking for it... now for the tricky bit, can anyone tell me how to get this into Halo: CE???

I'm a huge noob at the actual CE modding side of things but I had an uneducated crack....

I opened up a PC MP map in HMT 3.5 after I patched my bitmaps.map (as I thought the [bitm]. section was pulled from the bitmaps.map file? how am I going so far...?)

I exported the UI/pistol+sniper scope mask and HUD/reated *.dds files from my patched bitmaps.map (well, from a MP map that I am presuming pulls the information from there...)

I then pasted a Halo CE bitmaps.map in the PC folder, and going on the same principle, injected the 'fixed' *.dds files into another MP map the CE counterpart section... (I did it this way because HMT 3.5 doesn't want to open the CE maps) this had nil effect. IE: No scope fix, no exceptions, no nothing...

So, presuming the .ppf applies these altered masks (or does it have a completely different effect relating to shaders for example, I have no clue), how do I get them into ce for use on the STANDARD MAPS(not fussed about custom maps at this stage) so I can roll it all up for my release? everything else is ready to go bar this.. I would really appreciate some assistance. If someone is willing to make me a patch or provide a bit of instruction, it would be greatly appreciated and cred will be given in release notes.

I made a blur fix for ce using texmod, it is a bit pixelated but with open sauce you can use the command pp_fxaa_enabled 1 and it does sharpen the edges aswell, also forcing fxaa through your graphic card driver (I use nvidia) also makes it more bareable on low resolutions.
I wouldn't really have a clue if you could incorporate this into your release its just something I use and is easy to revert or make changes too

You can just extract the dds file through HMT and remove the alpha layer in Phtoshop. Then use HMT to insert it back into the game. That will "fix" the blur.
