Oh hey, it's that guy that posted the thing that everyone argued about!
Hi Modacity. Maybe the video will be less controversial this time. Let's try this again.
This is a halo 1 trick jumping video I made which attempts to do jumps at the level of what’s possible in some of the later halo games. I started working on jumps for this video Summer 2011, and I’ve come a long way since then. This is my first trick jumping montage. I hope you enjoy it.

Wellp, this place is going to be a hell of a lot less forgiving than Halo maps, good luck.

Some good, some bad.
I enjoyed some of the practical jumps, and those warthog slides! Got nothing out of the god mode grenade stacking and bouncing down hallways. It feels like you're trying too hard to do things that belong in later Halo games. You should play more to Halo 1's strong points in trick jumping like abusing the quirky vehicle physics, or finding ways to survive otherwise lethal falls. Something you don't have to worry about in later games. Trying to jump like Halo 3 in Halo 1 isn't very exciting.

That's some solid feedback, and an interesting perspective.
Maybe I'll try to make a video that's more so about quirky vehicle physics and such things sometime in the future. ;)

i skipped to about a minute in. that jump with the hog on gephyrophobia was pretty cool, but even cooler was that you survived. then i continued watching and realized you must have had some dev mode commands on for player health.
some of the stuff is cool, but like last time, youre pitching this stuff to a community that isnt really into it. its like trying to sell a tractor to a teenage girl who just got her driver's licence. it might be an impressive vehicle in its own right, but your audience isnt interested in it.

Or like trying to sell cheese to someone who's lactose intolerant.
You're right about this, but occassionally it'll be seen by someone who wouldn't see it otherwise and they'll enjoy it. I post it for those people. ;)
In regards to surviving jumps, yes I used deathless player for most of these jumps. It's not entirely necessary for all of them though. You can use a custom gametype with 800% for most of the jumps, and some can be even be done with normal health... of course, this isn't really the point of the jumps. Maybe we'll see more tactical jumps in the future. Salaya style maybe?

I can always appreciate a well-done tricks video so I enjoyed it.
To complain about the use of dev commands to survive the blasts and falls is to miss the point video somewhat. Sure, it's cool if you can survive the stunts and some of them are specifically about doing so (Tower to Tower) but trick videos aren't usually about being practical for use in normal play.
