Just read the goddamn announcement (http://starwars.com/news/electronic-arts-selected-for-multi-year-agreement-for-the-future-of-star-wars-gaming.html).

I don't know what to think. I want to do this , but I feel like this :ugh:

Battlefront 3: now running on the Frostbite engine

Get ready for paid DLC and preferential treatment towards Premium members.

E: After reading the whole thing, I am kind of happy that there is now a chance that the single player KoTOR games might get life breathed back into them. What else will Bioware do with their spare time? Now that Mass Effect is done and TOR was a failure. Continue making DLC for ME3 lol???

At the same time, I am scared that any potential successor to Republic Commando will look like the campaign trailer for BF4...

Thats funny, I was just telling my friend the other day that I'd be totally pleased to see a battlefront 3 that was VC2/BF3's mechanics with a star wars skin on it. That sounds like a cheap way out, but what I mean is to have team-based classes like medics and engineers in the Star Wars universe, fighting in key battles from the series. Most of the classes in battlefront 2 just felt like you were picking whatever would let you kill things faster in the given situation. I didn't really feel like I was contributing to as much of a team effort in that game as I do when I play medic in BC2.

Also the single player Galactic Conquest mode from battlefront 2. That kicked ass. I'd love to go full on Rambo battle-medic in battlefront.

Shit, even the acronym would be the same (BF3).
E: I find it kind of funny how Bioware has come full circle back to KotOR IP.

Battlefront on Frostbite? Yes. Fucking. Please....fuck.

Never thought I'd actually be happy to see Star Wars and EA in the same paragraph like that.

Which is why most people add SW to the front of it. SWBF3 :DDD :iamafag:

You know EA owned the battlefront series right? They owned Pandemic Studios who made the games >_>

If they actually revive battlefront I'll actually pray for it.

They actually didn't own the Battlefront series. Pandemic was an independent developer after leaving Actvision. LucasArts got them to develop Clone Wars, SWBF, and SWBF2. SWBF2 was released in November 2005. EA acquired Pandemic as a subsidiary in 2007.

Trivia: all of Pandemic's games use an engine derived from that used in Battlezone II.

That's about the first and only thing I was thinking about while reading the article: KoTOR3

ME4: now with the force :P

In all honesty, i'd be willing to give it a shot, if it's just another EA brand generic FPS with a new skin, then oh well

I don't know, we're talking about Disney AND EA pulling the strings here guys: either it'll be cool or meh.

Mass Effect already had the Force; it was called biotics.

Ugh... do not know if want. On the one hand, the possibility of KotOR 3, Jedi Knight 4, and Republic Commando: Order 66 are all extremely enticing. On the other hand, EA.

If I buy EA published disks, do I have to register on Origin to play?

You bet your wallet you do. As for these Star Wars licensed games, I doubt that would sit well with Disney.

Damn, and I lost my wallet and still have to buy a new one. :gonk:

Yeah sucks that its stuck in an EA studio with EA marketing/DLC/DRM but considering BF was literally BF in star wars, I don't see the issue as far as the "game" goes (I ofcourse will not be buying it though~~)

I'm excited for the idea of some other Lucasarts franchises getting a revival but I don't really see the big deal as far as Battlefront goes. Battlefront 2 gave me pretty much everything I ever wanted out of a Battlefront game. I don't really know what a sequel could add at this point save for replaying the same battles yet again with better graphics and stupid modern tropes like unlocks and DLC.

I for one am looking forward to larger scale space battles and intense boarding action - 2142 style.

Just realized... If DICE does ends up getting pegged to make SWBF3 then the chances of ever getting 2143 will be even slimmer :saddowns:

I have no doubt DICE will create some sort of successor to 2142. I just think they should call it something other than 2143 because a number of battles in BF2142 actually took place in 2143. Better to call it Battlefield: Cold War since The Cold War is actually what DICE refers to the war as in-game. This way they can include everything from the beginning of the prelude (2138) to the end of the war (2147).

Just an FYI, Bioware isn't done with Mass Effect. And I'm not talking about Mass Effect 3 DLC. They've said a few times now that there will be more games in the Mass Effect universe, just not involving Shepard.

However, I would love to see KotOR 3.

Not if it's stylistically similar to TOR in any way, shape or form. Not only was that game stupid and stylized, it was also stupid and look-at-me-and-all-my-forced-Star-Wars-cliches.

TOR Can die In a fire. I want a direct sequel to KoTOR 1 and 2.
