The National Security Agency and the FBI are tapping directly into the central servers of nine leading U.S. Internet companies, extracting audio and video chats, photographs, e-mails, documents, and connection logs that enable analysts to track foreign targets, according to a top-secret document obtained by The Washington Post. The program, code-named PRISM, has not been made public until now. It may be the first of its kind. The NSA prides itself on stealing secrets and breaking codes, and it is accustomed to corporate partnerships that help it divert data traffic or sidestep barriers. But there has never been a Google or Facebook before, and it is unlikely that there are richer troves of valuable intelligence than the ones in Silicon Valley.

I thought this was all common knowledge?
I mean all the info was laying about, especially after one of the patent owners for some of the tech they're using got shut down in the name of national security.

I thought this was all common knowledge?
Yeah, I thought it was fairly obvious that this has been going on for a long time by this point.

Congratulations everyone surprised by this. You've figured out what the rest of us has known what the Patriot Act has been since it was passed under Bush and renewed by Congress since then.
The only reason this is getting any notice is because Republicans (who started up the Patriot Act, btw) have noticed that they can try and use it against Obama.
Kinda a side note, but the quote from Obama running for election in 2007 where he says no more warrantless spying and all that jazz? Yeah, nothing he can do about that since it requires Congress to vote it down. Why would Republicans vote for something Obama wants? They've tried 30ish times already to repeal the Affordable Healthcare Act.

Not particularly. But since this thread, I've enjoyed putting more emphasis on obviously queried words while discussing video games and movies with others in my IMs. Throw around a few mentions of the word "bomb" and "assassinated" and I'm sure if anyone checks, they'll be frustrated but relieved to find out I was only talking about Halo.

I imagine every conversation I've had on Steam with Rossmum and Warlord was recorded and poured over carefully by the U.S. government.
You guys are going to get me in trouble. Damn commies.
E: And then there was that time I said I would go into cop killer mode if things went Anaheim here in Oregon, and the forum was down for like three hours afterwards.
Halp me guys, they thinks I is an Islam.

Oh I would love to have seen their faces reading those conversations.Totally, right? You guys are so unique in your discussions about how the government is becoming a fascist totalitarian farce of an honest for the people, of the people institution designed to make our lives better. I'm sure you're all on the top of their list of people to systematically make disappear for the greater "good".

You can't independently publish to the Xbone as well. Meaning you have to be under who knows what kind of contracts to get access to the development capabilities for use.
