(http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/08/20/games-for-windows-live-may-shut-down-next-year/)Enjoy the fuck out of it. M$ probably gonna replace it with something similar, though, considering they hired the former Director of Steam after he was fired by Valve.

Uh...how exactly? Because GFWL is a massive failure, they are going to suddenly start releasing games on Steam? They hired the former director of Steam. They are probably going to try to revive GFWL as some new service.

Because so far theyve said bioshock and batman are going to be switched to steam. There's also rumors of dark souls doing the same.

It's worthless news unless they go back and fix the games they've already fucked. H2V would need to have a complete serialization overhaul, otherwise you'd only have a single player game. While they're at it, they might as well unlock the editing kit capabilities that were closed down because they violated the Live ToU. Shadowrun had potential to be a great game, but the shit they had in there to make it more fair for cross-platform play neutered it. After those two, I avoided GFWL like a plague so I'm not sure how else they've fucked over newer games.

Might go some way to explaining why they decided to leave H2PC up for now. If they knew the plug was being pulled on the whole system in the near future, well, may as well just leave it be.

^ That was my thought. And Zeph brings up a great point about having to rewire most of the games to continue to function without GFWL. At this point, I'd say Microsoft doesn't think it's worth their time.

Dark Souls uses GFWL? Weird considering it launched directly onto Steam.

It launched directly onto steam yes, but you still needed GFWL. I don't know much about other games, but you didn't need gold for it. It just used GFWL for its matchmaking system ingame. The game will pretty much completely die if the online aspect of it is cut out. Sure you can play offline, but most of the fun is in the pvp element.

"Continued support" doesn't sound like "it's back, bitches."
How many discs of Vista is Microsoft selling anymore? None, most like, but that doesn't mean they don't continue to support those who are running Vista. I mean, how else would I play my GTA IV online? You mean for me to wait until the PC release of GTA V?? I wanna bust a cap with my not-Adidas tracksuit and Eastern European accent. :v

Doesn't matter. As long as publishers avoid it like the plague.
