I bought myself a nice 24" LED 1080p monitor today for a very reasonable price. It looks nice and I have it setup. However, I usually run dual monitors and now I want to run 3. I plug them all into my card (a Radeon HD7850, I'm assuming it can run plenty of monitors...). Windows detects all 3, but I can enable my 3rd one without disabling another. I read online that you have to use an "Active Display Port" adapter for it to work correctly - is this true? Does anyone with any insight know how this works? I know a few of you on here use em. The help would be apperciated. Thanks.

Yep, that's correct, you'll need an active adapter. Here's a post on (http://www.overclock.net/t/721931/active-vs-passive-displayport-adapters-the-truth) it if you're interested in the details.

This is why I don't have trip monitors.

Just bought one off of newegg, excited. Thanks for the info. Might be time to invest in a little bit more RAM too...

If you have an integrated card alongside your dedicated one you can usually enable it and use it to run the third / fourth monitor without buying anything.
Atleast that's how it worked for me~

But you can't normally game on three screens like that. And it only works if the motherboard supports it.

Well this is interesting. Even if there's nothing special about it, I really want that chassis design for my own PC: http://www.theverge.com/2013/11/4/5063760/we-try-the-steam-machine-valves-video-game-console-of-the-future
