I just bought AC4 for $14, and before that I got ODST for $7 or so. I rarely play games, honestly, just a few is all I need and by the time I really want something I'll wait for a sale because there's always sales/markdowns by the time I care enough (yes, more on PC but still happens quite often for consoles). Last game I bought full price was Halo 4 for $80 cause I got the season pass with it. Of course, that didn't entirely return as well as I would've hoped.

The only games I'm going to be buying full price anymore are [maybe] Halo 5 and [definitely] The Witcher 3 [because CD Projekt deserves my money]. Otherwise, I wait for sales and markdowns so I won't be spending that much in the long run. $600, maybe? And that's if I even buy the Xbox One at $400.

Well that's fine considering you said you've only got a laptop now. If you get a desktop in the future though you'll definitely have no excuse unless you already have the consoles.

I don't get people who already have a desktop that's capable of being a half-decent gaming PC with nothing but an upgraded/added discrete GPU and maybe some memory. Easily doable for that same $400 - $600 budget. Although if you've already got the consoles, I guess you've locked yourself in for another cycle from the financial-practicality perspective.

I'm done with consoles forever unless something durastic changes with the PC gaming scene or consoles obtain the ability to use multiple input methods (specifically keyboards and mice natively). Biggest thing that turns me away from consoles is the clunky controllers.

Some games feel much better with a controller to me, actually. I'm quite enjoying AC4 with a controller, and Halo works damn well with a controller too (though I'm also great with a keyboard because of so much Halo PC). I like the ability to actually change my movement speed without having to crouch or hold down shift to walk either.

Yeah, he and maybe a few others posted here after it was released. He couldn't really do anything though. The team was dismantled before the game shipped. The most he could do was find workarounds for a few minor issues.

Well, a bit of clarification. The GAF post said it switched from kb/mouse to controller when the game was controlled with the controller. That's more effort than changing a .bat to put in your PC strings in a test build.

The game works like this. Say you have map A from halo 1, map B from halo 2, map C from halo 3, map D from halo 4, and then looping back to map E on halo 1 and so on and so forth.

Playlist looks like C, A, B, D, E.

First games loads map C on halo 3's engine. Second game in the playlist loads map A running on halo 1's engine. Stats from both games are grouped together into the over all stats. There is NO fragmentation here. Everything works together with the exception that maps are played on the engine they were first designed on.
