Greatest Map Makers?

Tyrant made a post which got me thinking. Who were, objectivley (subjectivley) the best map makers of all time in this game?

What were the best maps ever made?

I'd argue that Neuro Ko Neza and Arteen should be in the conversation.

Other areas of map making are also worth discussing. Dano and Conscars are the best texture/skybox artists we've ever had.

I'd definitely go with Arteen (who I mentioned in the other thread). I spent way too many hours of my life on his maps during my teenage years.

Also, are we going to manage a whole page of posts in this section of the forum where nobody acts like an assclown for laughs? Is that possible?

Arteen is overrated.

Not sure if serious, but I agree. His later stuff is solid but most of his early stuff didn't appeal to me so much. Still respect him for the amount of stuff he put out.

Assuming we're talking about BSP work here (aesthetics & gameplay), no mention of Mothergoat, Crispy, Schwinnz, EJBurke?

It's hard to say who's best of all since so few of them have released more than a couple maps.

Nah, I said that to rustle TVTyrant's jimmies. Arteen is one of my most favorite mappers. I put EJ Burke first, and then Arteen. Arteen did make more maps, but EJ Burke made some beautiful artwork for its time.

Feel like I'm forgetting a few others, but these guys I remember since I played their maps so many times... Good times.

Jahrain's stuff was fun, but sadly he never finished his stuff. :\
As for Tiamat, his stuff was fun for a bit, but QUICKLY got old. Beta tested Hugeass and that was pretty fun, but after awhile it lost its appeal...

mothergoat for immure, one of my favorite maps of all time. arteen had some pretty great maps too like delta ruins. portent by burke was good but i wouldnt consider portent a master feet in level design, although aesthetically it was great. yoyorast's islands (both versions) are pretty fantastic for a lot of reasons including gameplay. massacre and selentic's revelations map is a pretty great newer map combined with conscars amazing artistic ability in skybox creation.

there's alot of great maps out there and people who made them. suprsingly some of the people who have made these great maps have only made one or two (eg yoyorast), or bunch with only a few really standing out as great in particular (like arteen, selentic, or mothergoat)

SomeRhino anyone? Lost Cove and Nightcamp? Nightcamp is still probably one of my favorite maps, and I'd argue it's the best map released in the first month or so of CE.

Also DocOctavius? Not a big fan of his later stuff, but Claustrophobia was just about perfect.

It's funny that I decided to log on today... I just found my old high school mix CD and rediscovered that I had Mothergoat's album from when he was in a rock band in like 2005.

Yoyo's map was a crazy clusterfuck of awesome, Arteen's maps were pretty damn cool, Jahrain made some pretty shader tricks, Mothergoat maps were fun...
