Master Chief is a good example of a mythic guy and meets many criteria of the mythic guy syllabus. Master Chief is a genetically enhanced super soldier who was kidnapped at birth by the military. He was replaced by a clone without his parents knowing, and the clone eventually died, leaving his parents to think the Master Chief (whose actual name is John) was dead. Against his will, Master Chief was experimented on and turned into a fighting machine. In this way, he was thrust into a position that he did not ask for. At the start of the first game, he was obviated in the sense that he was awoken from cryogenic sleep in the middle of nowhere, and thrust into a part of the war that was far removed from the genocidal struggle humanity faced up to that point. Master Chief was stranded on an unfamiliar alien world and tasked with somehow defeating the Covenant and making his way back to Earth. His quest itself was of course the ultimate defeat of the Covenant, and the defense of humanity and Earth. He was in a sense tasked with winning an entire war himself, which is a very mythic goal indeed. Master Chief also has “divine” help in a sense. His sidekick is an AI companion named Cortana who he has constant contact with. She’s almost like a god that watches over Chief, advising him of threats, analyzing situations, and giving advice. Though of course she isn’t divine, she fills a similar role, and thus Master Chief can be said to have the same divine helpers. In a similar way, Master Chief can also be though to have magical powers, though in reality they’re the result of technology. He has super human strength, can withstand bullets, and is able to heal himself. This is all the result of the genetic experimentation that was done to him, and from his advanced armor he wears, though to the average person, he would seem like he’s either magic or something beyond human. He also goes to the ends of the Earth, and indeed, the ends of the galaxy to fulfill his goals. In the end, he faces death trying to escape from the shield world called The Ark, as the entire installation falls apart around him in fire and explosions. He tries to make his way to a ship to escape, and does, however as the ship makes its way into a slipstream portal to leave the Ark, the portal collapses, splitting the ship in two. The Master Chief is left seemingly stranded in space, and goes back to cryosleep. As far as humanity is aware, he is dead, and is given military honors. However, they say Spartans never die, so he is not declared dead, but missing in action. If one considers the new trilogy of games (which I don’t consider to be canon because they’re awful), then Master Chief also faces a hero’s expulsion. In the trailer for the upcoming Halo 5, Master Chief is hunted by the military he fought for and is labeled as a traitor, though for what reasons are yet unknown. He was a mythic hero who is now exiled and hunted by the same people he saved. He is a mythic guy indeed.

We absolutely do. I think many people severely underestimate how much content we read. We always appreciate when people put in the time and effort to write out detailed thoughts or opinions. While this is a new blog, we've seen many of these points brought up before and have discussed them with development. We know these requests are important to the community and we're always looking to make sure that hot topics such as these are given the appropriate amount of attention internally. With development ongoing for Legacy of the Void, there are still a lot of discussions taking place. As such, we may not be able to jump into topics with definitive answers on feature requests, but we still want to let you know that the request is heard and will be discussed
