I wrote up a news post for a Halo 2 Vista section just launched on
Mapwatch.net. If an admin wants to actually make it into news, feel free to post it on your site! Hope you enjoy the site!
Mapwatch.net (http://www.mapwatch.net/) is a user-submission-powered site designed to help level designers create quality content by exposing their
maps to players throughout the map development process. It also gives
players a chance to give back to the game by testing maps and providing
quality feedback on level designers. Mapwatch helps designers publicize
their maps on other sites and forums in an effort to help them consolidate
player feedback and testing notes while also increasing popularity of their
map by exposing it to other communities. Finally, Mapwatch will become a
map archive, providing free hosting for all maps developed for supported
games.
With the release of Halo 2 Vista with map editing tools, Mapwatch
spearheads the development of Halo 2 Vista maps by launching a devoted H2V section! Join the new Halo 2 community at mapwatch.net :

:/
I'm sorry to say this, but I bet most H2V map makers will be uploading them at Halomaps.org (http://www.halomaps.org/)
which has been H2V ready for some time now, and UXB is willing on hosting every one's maps, and it's free to use to.

You spearheaded the development of Halo 2 Vista maps huh? Well, considering Dennis has had a Halo 2 Vista section on halomaps.org for nearly four months now, I would say your spearhead is more like a twighead.

Halomaps.org is the bomb. Nice you tried though, are the other sections very popular?

It's a brand new website...launched last week. It's not popular yet. We think the tools available are valuable to mappers though, and when an unbiased mapper sees what the site offers, he'll be happy with it.
I looked at halomaps.org, saw the "halo 2 release date announced" posted in March, and thought it must be a pretty inactive site...didn't realize it was popular at all. So sorry if we're not truly "spearheading" the h2v map development community - please consider the tools available on Mapwatch, though :)

>.> hey, you're talking about a web site that is owned and run by one man, who keeps the Halo CE part up to date, the Halo 2 Vista part of Halomaps.org hasn't been very popular because there hasn't been any maps, let alone any real H2V releasing until today.

If I were you, I wouldn't advertise here. The last guy who did that got banned. There's already a website for maps; halomaps.org has been around forever and UXB is a great guy. I'm really glad he's such a generous guy for providing his site for the community for so long. He's added an H2V section that'll do the job just fine. Everyone knows about Halomaps, and it'll be tough for Mapwatch to get a hold and promote itself despite all your advertising. When people make a useful site, it's because there's a need for it. There's no need for another map site; if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
edit: ...but by all means, really, go ahead and do it. Nobody is going to stop you. It's good that you want to help.

I think the website looks cool... I wouldn't mind having another map site.. competition is good. :)

How much bandwidth does your website have a month? ALthough halo 2 vista maps are smaller, its still going to use alot of bandwidth.
UXB has a crap load of bandwidth since the site relaunch.

Sorry if I seemed like I was insulting halomaps! I didn't intend to - I just figured they were somewhat inactive since their most recent news post was pretty old. Maybe I should have dug a bit deeper.
Mapwatch actually splits bandwidth up between two different servers. It's setup so the main server dishes out the web pages, and a secondary server serves up the map files. It's created in a way that we can adjust some code in order to be able to add additional secondary servers in case that we need additional bandwidth. This way, page loads should always, ALWAYS be zippy, and file transfers shouldn't become a problem unless we're in the process of adding an additional server, which we hope is necessary some day!
