Sidewinder for halo 2 pc is on the way. Should be out sometime this month

^--- As you can see Photons needs to be ran on the highest quality for this to come out right. (pic photons quality: Low)
Finished List-
- Weapon placement
-Vehicle Placement
-BSP
-Halo 1 teleporter
To do list
- Finish the new ground texture (the one in the pics is just a place holder)
- Place Rocks and trees (idk if theres trees in the tag set)
- Fix Alpha channels
- Fix lighting shaders
-MAYBE replace cliff textures, if you guys dont like it
Post comments and feedback.
Excpect new screen shots after Lights are fixed and ground texture is made more high res, and pretty :-)

replace the cliff textures they look horrid, if ur porting a halo 1 game using halo 1 textures.

Alot of the textures are from halo2 so its not like an EXACT REPLICA

I would (if we can do that in the near feature):
Make the geometry more detailed
Remake all the textures or at least improve themThen this could have more potential :)

agreed.
I want to keep the geometry pretty close to halo 1, i dont want to change it so much that it changes the game play, but i could work on it
BTW do any of you know if the h2 tag set includes tree tags of some sort

There have to be some tree tags....but I only think there are the palm tree ones. I remember seeing palm trees in Nitro's map Beach Battle....of course, he probably has a modified tag set.

I agree about the cliffs... Try using the rock skin from Waterworks maybe?
As for the trees, there should be a tag in the forerunner list or whatever.

Try getting some good snow textures (for the ground and the walls) from the snowy campaign levels or even containment.

the map looks so awesome. I want to play it already after i buy H2V. Those photos are so sexy. And the Halo 1 Plasma Rifle is skin is shinier than the one from halo 2. Could u put the fuel rod gun in game? ;)

All of this Halo 1 direct ports blow. Take some time and re-imagine the map or, at the very least, update the level mesh to feel a more like Halo 2 and redo the textures or reuse Halo 2 ones. If I wanted to play Halo 1 levels that look and feel like their Halo 1 counterparts, I would load up Halo 1. People really could be much more creative with these map ports.

Am still thinking of a map that could be redone with a good theme.

Looks nice. You should use that Halo 3 normal mapping tutorial to make the ice look Halo 3ish. That would be orsm*

I am working on it , but as i said before i dont want to change the mesh SO much that it changes game play.

Well, you can change a lot visually that will not change the gameplay at all. The cliffs, the tunnel walls, making ladders into lifts, switching out the teleporters, modifying the ground textures and shaders, replacing the trees, replacing the rocks, re-imagining the icy "stairs" that lead to the center connecting mass, accents on the outer face of each base, the turret snow mound, etc.
I'm just saying, show the map some love, not a direct porting. Even Beaver Creek had some good changes applied to it when it made the move to Halo 2.

Indeed! If you do plan on using original textures, make good shaders and apply good bump mapping to achieve a more modern look.

Haha! I'd love to help, but, this is a new game :P You have the ability to experiment and learn how they work without letting others get too ahead. Trial and error :P

See, I was thinking that as well. Think of what Bungie did to warlock....they changed it from a space station-esque place to a jungle. Give Sidewinder the Halo 2 style.

That would be good, instead of the frozen lake, you can have a real one! Maybe a shallow river and waterfall too, and a few small hills in the middle. Also, I think the overall look should have a more human feel to it, rather than covenant.

I like that idea too. I always loved the look of the Delta SP maps..and of course Sanctuary too.
