Is the player base decent, like at least what halo PC used to have? I'm considering buying the game but I haven't really heard much about it from friends and nobody I know seems to have it.
I played it on Xbox but sold it because of the matchmaking system. I hated that thing so much.

You mean hows the multiplayer? Well alot of it is restricted into different types of Live accounts which silver is ree and gold is $50 a year I think.
You can use matchmaking I think but you can also use the halo 1 type server list thing which is great.

yeah the xbox matchmaking sucked too. Thats why I stopped playing.
But this game has a combination of HaloPC server list and Halo2Xbox matchmaking. It works for me.
Plus the live features of 'friends' and knowing who else is on is great.
So go get your copy and add to the numbers we have now.

The gold exclusive matchmaking system for Live on halo 2 pc, is nothing like the xbox. You may or may not like it. Its basically just a quick join feature that skips the server browser. I don't think it's nothing worth a $50 yearly subscription, thats for sure. But what for h2v on is anyways? Paying more than the game costs each year just to have your corny little "achievements" logged?

$50 a year or $7.99 a month. People are quick to say "$50!!!! THAT"S BULLSHIT!" (myself included) but there are smaller options available. Try it for a month if you don't like it then don't. I know myself with the emergence of my clan coming back all of us are going to use Gold accounts.

Yea, I think if you are going to get into other "Games For Windows" then you probably want to get GOLD because those other games are going to have restrictions for Silver users as well.
Pick the year card up at best buy and con an employee to let you use their discount. I bought mine when my bro who works at a best buy came to town and a full year cost me $11.

I agree with this post 100%. The only thing I would buy Gold for is for Cross-Platform games...

I don't have Gold Membership but if you play more GFW then I guess it's really worth it.
There are enough stupid people in the world who pay 15$ a month for WoW for a less frequent patching and service in contrast to the Guild Wars free monthly counterpart.

if you quickly work it out (which i actually took the time to do). if you pay $8 a month. times by 12
thats about $96
you pay $50 up front for a year and you pay almos half what it would otherwise cost.
rofl @ people that think that 50 a year is a ripoff compared to 96 payed all up over 12 months.

Just through playing a little bit since I got it (2 Days ago), the user base is actually a little disappointing. If you don't have gold the server list is pretty much limited to 3 servers, and about 1 of those 3 has a decent gametype on.
It's up to around 50 players at any given time and only very few games worth playing. I've honestly, in my opinion, have only played 1 decent game on LIVE so far.
Btw anyone here just friend me up on LIVE

I can't pull any games up in the server list thingy at all. I know my account works, so I don't see why.
I have a router, as well, but I set it to DMZ so it allowed programs to access it and such, so that shouldn't cause any problems.

By the looks of how many people are playing, it seems many people are skipping over this title. Halo 1 PC has way more people playing right now .

I'm on the gold trial, and if i cant show off a rank number whats the point? I'll have to get legend and just shove that in everyones face. . .sigh its not the same as a level 50 next to your name. . . .
